I have held off on pre-ordering the Godfather DVD Collection, because I have a feeling that the B&M stores will have great deals on this set in an effort to make the price more palatable to the mainstream public. I somehow can't see the average person plunking down $70 at a K-mart or Walmart for the DVD set, and yet the Godfather Trilogy has such a broad mainstream appeal that most people who own a DVD player will want to own these movies. The box set can be pre-ordered for about $70. Any guesses on what the sale prices at K-mart and Walmart will be ?

Don't know what the price will be, but you can bet it'll be less than the onlines. I just say Total Recall for 17.49 at Sam's Club, which I have preordered at 18.99 [IMG]
For me, if it's a big title, I buy it at a B&M

I think Costco will have this at $64.99.

After a $10 coupon and share the love I got it down to $60.43 at Amazon. Wouldn't be surprised to see it cheap at Best Buy or Frys though. Frys had the new Kubrick set for $89.99 a few weeks ago, so maybe based off of that I wouldnt be surprised to see it sometime around Xmas for 49.99.

I'm waiting as well. This is going to be the first time I've bought from a B&M in a long, long time but I'm trying to determine how to juggle between online and B&M as to how much money can be saved.

If I were going to buy "The Godfather" from a B&M, I'd wait until the day after Thanksgiving, when they have all of those loss leader deals to get you into the store early. This is one of those titles that has loss-leader written all over it.

Bob, not really. I don't think they need to loss leader the Godfather box set so much...they know it's a seller. [IMG]

    Bob,
Thanksgiving is too long of a wait for saving a few bucks. I do wanna pick up the Godfather set on the day it comes out, but I'd like to save some money too. Hopefully Walmart, K-mart or Best Buy will have the set for under 60 bucks.

I know of one particular B&M store who has over 600 copies of the Godfather box on order--it's going to be a lot easier to sell that many for $49 or $59 each than $79 each. . .

I would guess most B&Ms would have it for $70-$75. I preordered it from Deep Discount DVD way back when it was first announced, but anybody who's used them knows that delivery date is very inconsistent. If the box set takes too long to get here, I might end up picking up a copy locally and selling the preordered copy to a friend or on eBay. I want it on the release day, no matter what!!! [IMG]

What the hell is B&M? B&M, OAR, heck you almost have to speak another language to post at Home Theatre Forum.

    B&M=Brick & Mortar, traditional stores.
J6P- Joe Six Pack, mundanes, people satisfied to coast through life. Typically watches P&S and thinks it's good
OAR- Original Aspect Ratio, preserving the orignal film's composition, which widescreen does
OSL- Original spoken language. Not quite as revered by some HTF members
    I'm sure I missed some, but there's a starter
