One of the great movies, I have watched it countless times, on television in 1080i, in the theater (a "restored" version in the 90s), and the DVD. I have never seen it look good, or sound good. It's contrasty, devoid of grain (and details), poorly registered in many places, and the music sounds mono and hollow. I recognize some of the problems with the source materials, but I was just wondering if some more erudite film experts could weigh in here, on what it might take to truly restore and preserve it for a bluray presentation.
