A strange anomaly which I haven't seen mentioned before, which my son noticed during his initial viewing of The Godfather dvd.
I'm not certain what it is.
At approximately 154:30 - 154:40 during a single shot at the funeral -- just after a slight pan to the left, a transparent woman's face appears against the jacket of a seated boy, and continues against Al Pacino's jacket as he rises out of frame.
This could be a strange reflection if for some reason the camera was behind glass...
    or...

I noticed this but I also noticed it on the AMC version a couple of months ago. I just thought it was a reflection.

Can't seem to locate it now but there was a recent thread on this subject.
I think the general concensus was that the "ghost" was Mike Knapp.

Well, the other thread seems to be gone, but Ebert just wrote a short piece on it in his Answer Man column.

Actually, Tom, your capture is a moment too soon.

While you can just barely see the woman's face over the jacket of the boy standing behind Pacino, when Pacino stands up and most of the screen is black, you can see her much more clearly.

Ahh there it is... I thought it was lost. I would have resurrected that thread as opposed to this one had I known it was still floating around.

I didn't see it at first on the screenshots, but did see it after turning brightness way up on my PC monitor. Most interesting...

I must be blind. I don't see anything in any of these pictures. I'll have to check the DVD.

    Hey:
I saw this the first time through the DVD, backed it up, and saw it was the woman to the left of Pacino.... figured it must have been a reflection in the camera. Besides, the black is really unexposed film, so it would not taje too much of a reflection to expose the film there.
There is a much better reflection is that of FFC himself in Godfather II. He looks very Christ-like, too- that's what I thought it was, at first. But I slo-moed it, and I am pretty sure it is a 2-3 frame reflection of Frances. Spotted this in the Ladser set, but it is there in the DVD, too.

Check out this week's "Movie Answer Man" column by Roger Ebert at http://www.suntimes.com/output/answ-man/sho-sunday-ebert16.html Ebert received mail on this topic and spoke with Coppola. Turns out that this is Morgana King's reflection, who was off camera and didn't realize she was being captured on film.

How exactly she is caught in this image is explained in the article
