Just saw this over at toms hardware though some of you might like to see it. http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/20041113/index.html

Ive seen the TV->PJ conversion but not the LCD. Im sure others have done it but the guide for this one is pretty decent.

Some guys have been doing it since 4 years back. You can check out diyaudio about how it is done. I think this is where diyprojector started.

I got mine up and running 6 months ago and the result as you say is pretty decent. No more worrying about bulb life and cost.
