I see that Gettysburg will be re-released on February 3, 2004. Any news on if it's the extended cut or not? Or did they just work out the issues that got it pulled a while back?

    Thanks

I've been wondering, but why did it get yanked from the shelves?

I hope its a special edition. I would love to see what they cut. There are a few things that I suspect that could be added.

I really want to see a Gods and Generals extended cut. A few extra hours of footage would be sweet [IMG]

I know there were some legal issues, but don't know what they were specifically.

The only cut stuff is more speeches and strategy talking by the Generals. Good stuff if your a fan but its not major footage.

Didn't they cut the entire battle of Antietam from that film? I wouldn't mind seeing that footage.

At one point I heard that GaG original cut was around six hours long.

6 hours sounds good to me. I can't wait to see it.

I think it was just a reissue of the same snapper case version from before. If it's a SE please let me know!

it was in the release list, but I think it was just an MSRP drop.

Best Buy lists it as 5-7 day availability. I couldn't find a store near me that had it for pick up so looks like they didn't get it in.

Laser's Edge is showing it as a 2/3/04 release and indicates SE. They show the length as 261 minutes. The previous version was 254 minutes. Laser's Edge doesn't indicate anamorphic, only wide screen.

DVD Empire is still showing the old version and as "unavailable".

I don't know if this information adds anything of value, or just more confusion. It seems the WB marketing department has been asleep at the switch on this one.

Everything I've been able to find indicates it's the same as the old release. Crawdaddy also mentioned in another post that both were exactly the same.

To bad, I'd like to get the extended version too. Guess I'll have to get the LD set.
