I am getting a loud “popping” electrical noise whenever I change to from non-HDTV to HDTV channels, or between one premium movie channel provider to another (HBO to Starz), using a Samsung SIR-TS160 on DirecTV. Very irritating. The Samsung is new and is connected as follows:

1)Triple LNB dish to Spaun SMS5802NF MultiSwtch
2)Spaun multiswitch to Samsung SIR-TS160 (using proper Belden 1694A RG6 coax)
3)Samsung video directly to Pioneer Plasma using RGB connector
4)Samsung Audio to H-K AVR7000 receiver via coax
5)Receiver directly through internal amps to speakers.

Picture and audio are great after channel changes, with short static pop immediately after channel change. Is this fixable? Should I consider returning the Samsung? This is the only HDTV set-up in my house. None of the other non-HDTV STBs causes any popping noise.

Hi there, and welcome to HTF. Since your question concerns a specific model of settop box I've moved it to where you'll get the responses you need.
