I think one of the points is that it is still better than cooking in a skillet and a lot of people can't or don't want to use an outdoor grill. I have one, but the last thing I want to do when its 5 degrees outside is go out there to cook.

To me the whole point of these things is fast, convenient, low-fat cooking.

Around here sausages and steaks still go on the 'real' grill outside, no considering required.
