on SACD hybrid discs, does the standard CD layer sound the exact same as a regular CD, or does it have even slightly superior sound quality ?

I don't have an SACD player, but I've seen several hybrid albums in stores and wondered about this.

    Thanks!

It would sound the same. A difference would be noted if the two CD layers were mastered differently or if the sacd used a lower generation tape. [IMG]

Nicolas, Thangs vary. That being said, most of the CD layers I've listened to would equate to a new, improved remix. There must be exceptions and I've never listened to all of my many CD layers.

Therein lies the problem. If it is indeed a "New and Improved" mix as apposed to a "New and Butchered" remix, which seems to happen quite regularly now.[IMG]
