After hearing sightings of these for the past 2 weeks I finally found them in an Albertson's store. Several different General Mills cereals have the DVDs on the front of the box, with the disc visible so you can see which one you're getting. There is a total of 4: Jackie Chan Adventures (animated I guess), Bear in the Big Blue House, and the movies Buddy and Muppets Take Manhattan.
Now for the bad news: I've heard both movies are ONLY pan-and-scan, so I didn't get those. They are already available pretty cheap with both widescreen and pan and scan versions (no cereal included.) Checking these discs they actually have the playing surface stamped on both sides with one partially covered by the label- look at the numbers stamped on the disc itself.

Asked at my usual grocery store this morning and the manager said that to get this promotion, huge quantities had to be ordered, so they wouldn't be getting any. I'm thinking Wal-Mart's looking good for these.

Today's newspapers also have an ad for them with a coupon for $1.00 off 2 boxes.

    Wal-Mart, here I come...

My local Stop & Shop had them in/on Honey Nut Chex today. It looked like they had all 4 DVDs but only in this variety of cereal. They were on the large boxes , priced at $4.99.

Bear in the Big Blue House is 4 x 3 and had heavy promotions in the beginning of the disc. You can fast forward throught them at least. PQ was good as for sound the kids watched it upstairs. I tried to watch Buddy with the little one but the PQ was horrible and the story seemed lame even for children(mine lost interest very quickly into the movie). The bottom line is "what's for free is for me" addage goes. You get waht you pay for, the cereal was at least worth it!!!

I got Jackie Chan Adventures and Muppets Take Manhatten today, in Lucky Charms and Honey Nut Cherrios. Got them at Vons (Safeway) in Burbank, 2 boxes for $5.00.

Muppets Take Manhattan is...well, full frame, and not a great transfer, but I've seen worse. Tons of promos on that one for Jim Henson videos that you have to skip past a la Disney.

Jackie Chan looks LOVELY, at least on my 27". Sharp, grain-free, with bright color and great contrast. This HAS to have been shot digitally -- there is simply no grain at all, even when I zoom the picture in 3 times. Good DD 2.0 stereo sound, too. I was surprised at the amount of bass on the soundtrack. Not huge, but more than I expected.

There's a WB commercial for the show, and a "Bear in the Big Blue House" DVD-ROM game to play.

Jackie Chan Adventures contains two episodes: The premiere episode, The Dark Hand, and episode #6, Shell Game. I had thought this show was unavailable elsewhere on DVD, but both episodes are part of Columbia TriStar DVD sets.

Still, these cereal premiums are likely to become collector's items in the years to come. Check out what cereal prizes from a decade or more ago are going for on E-Bay -- sometimes over $100. At $2.50 per box at Safeway/Vons, you might want to stock one or two away unopened for a few years...

With my better-than-average hearing, I heard a strange digital 'texture' on the sound of the first Jackie Chan episode, but the 2nd one sounded fine.

I saw a commercial for these dvd cereal boxes yesterday, so I decided to see if the local albertsons had any. Sure enough they did. I picked up 2 boxes of honey nut cheerios w/ the muppets and buddy. The cereal was buy one box for $5.00 or 2 boxes for $6.00. No brainer there.

    Hi,
Anyone seen any of these available in North or Central N.J.?

I've been to Walmarts, K-Marts, and about 3 Food store chains so far with no luck.

    Any help please?

Here in Memphis I found that the Wal-Mart super-store on Winchester had all four discs in boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. No other cereals had the discs, at least not yet.
I grabbed Bear and Chan for now, and might grab the other next time I'm there. Price was $2.88 each IIRC, and if I'm wrong than the price is definately lower.
I was thinking of grabbing 1 of each disc to keep sealed for collector's value, and 1 of each to open up and have to watch. But I'd rather get the "collector's" versions in a variety of cereals, and I'd rather get the "to watch" copies in something my kid will eat...like Trix. Hmmm; the missus likes CTCrunch. [IMG] But I dunno if she likes it THAT much...
For the "to watch" stuff, I'll skip Muppets since I have that separately and there's no need for duplication. As for Buddy, Jesse Skeen said this: "Checking these discs they actually have the playing surface stamped on both sides with one partially covered by the label"...does this mean that the "label" side - presumably the WS side - is actually able to play? If so, I'll nab it and see if my kid likes it. For under $3, it's a bargain. IF I can get it to watch in widescreen. Even my son won't watch them "wrong".

My wife picked up a box of Golden Grahams at our local Super Walmart. The box contained the Muppetts DVD. Not bad for only $2.50 Even if it is full frame, which I would never buy, still not bad for a box of cereal with a movie.

These discs have the same playable material stamped on both sides, one is covered by the printed label (so you won't find a widescreen version of the movies on the other side.) Some manufacturers do this for some reason but I don't know why, I posted this in Software a while back and got laughed at as I don't think many people understood what I was talking about.

I thought this was kind of expensive.

    FYI
Just picked up all 4 at Wal-Mart in Princeton, NJ.
$2.50 a box. Not too bad for breakfast and 4 DVD's!

Pick up one of each of the movies at my local-chain-grocer, 3.89 each, ouch, after my 3-year-old spied them and promised to help me eat the 4 big boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios. Yeah, right!
