this 1979 movie is not on dvd, and its a hard to find on VHS.. It would be nice if warner bros would release this movie on dvd. I had some people even ask about this title?

anyone else interested in this title?

I wouldn't not really care if they did a movie only hopefully in letterbox format.

Looking at the "sequence" of Gene Wilder films being released on DVD, this one seems to be due next.

We, and especially my wife who absolutely loves this film, are anxiously waiting for it.

I would order it the second I saw it (pre-)announced!

    - Who are you?
    - I'm, uh, from the Texas. My friend the Rabbi asked me to bring this to you.
    - But what is it?
    - I don't know - it looks like a kind of Torah to me.

Wish they would release "Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother," too.

Here, here! The classic Gene Wilder "trilogy" from the late 70s is mysteriously absent on DVD:
The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975), The World's Greatest Lover (1977), and The Frisco Kid (1979). The first two are 20th Century Fox, and seem like a good prospect for an Anchor Bay license?? The Frisco Kid is Warner, so when they do get around to it, chances are it will be done right. Anxiously waiting for them all!!

I saw that this was on HDNet not too long ago, so a HD master does exist.

Count me in-- The Frisco Kid is a favorite of mine as well.

I rented it in the early '80s for Harrison Ford (post-Star Wars, pre-Raiders and with little comedy under his belt) but Gene Wilder does a great job with his character. He manages to make Avram funny and dignified at the same time.

Hopefully Warner has this on the horizon.

This was on AMC a couple of weeks ago, and it was worth sitting through all of the commercials to see it again after all this time.

The movie is a lost gem. Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford are at the top of their games. It's a great buddy picture. I, too, will be quick to pick this one up if and when it is ever released.

Thanks for the news and the link. So far my VHS version has held up well. It's a wonderful story with a great lesson: people over material things, no matter what those material things are!

Just in the nick of time!

Last time I watched my VHS tape, I literally wasn't sure if it would make it to the end of the movie without breaking.

That cover art is a slap in the face to fans of this film! This is one of Wilder's best performances--it's his movie all the way, and he's reduced to a small pic in the corner.
Harrison Ford has a big role, but he ain't The Frisco Kid.

Boy, that cover is bad, it's like as if Gene Wilder is second banana to Ford!
