While everyone is out buying Xbox's and PS2's I think they are overlooking a great deal the reduced PSone.

I went out today and picked one up and what a great little system I hardly thought they were this small. I ordered a active matrix Gamevue screen from Outpost.com for $49 and hopefully it'll be a nice little system I can drag around with me. Seems like a better combination than a GBA. And there's a ton of great games cheap that oughta look pretty nice shrunk down to a 5.6" Screen.

Did anyone else pick up a PS One?

I have an old Playstation, a pre-9000 series with a parallel port on the back. Much more versatile, even though it's a little bigger.

that oughta look pretty nice shrunk down to a 5.6" Screen.
And so fuzzy on a big screen. I still enjoy playing some games for the gameplay, like Xenogears, but I do think the countless hours I've spent oogling Xbox, PS2, and GC screens has spoiled me to the point of no return.

I can relate! I just bought a PS2, but one of the biggest reasons I had for getting it was so I could finally play PS1 games. (I never had a PS1.)

So far, I've bought more PS1 games than PS2.

(Actually, at $50, I'm very tempted to just get a PS1 to go alongside my PS2. That way, I won't wear out my PS2 when playing PS1 games.)

I recently finally stopped buying the old PS1 games. I made a rather large list of games of games back when the Dreamcast and the N64 started going extinct. I went on a shopping spree via ebay and retail stores and got just about every game that I *NEEDED* to own for the PS1, N64, and DC. (I still need Waverace 64 and Goldeneye:frowning:). In the course of 2 months I think I bought almost 60 games between the 3 systems.
Now since rebuying a Saturn, I've been on a quest to regain all those games I played back when. I'm up to 16 titles. So far I still need Burning Rangers, Dragon Force, Shining Force 3 and Magic Knight Rayearth (Yes that is an expensive 4some but I want them:)). Oh and I'd like to get Christmas Nights since I don't have that, nor have I played it yet.
I'm always on the lookout for some old school gaming. I still shop for SNES, Genesis and NES games whenever possible. (I need to rebuy an Atari, mines fell down went boom:angry: ). I love retro gaming, I have almost as much fun with older games as I do new.

I'm kinda debating on what to do w/ the original PlayStation - ding to own Dragon Warrior VII - I've beaten every other DW released in the US - and I REALLY want DW7 - debating if I should get a PSOne with a screen or get a PS2. Both are probably in my future, but if I buy both at once, I'll be sleeping on the couch for a while (albiet, I'll be able to play games until dawn, but well, I'd rather not be on the couch. :D

I'd get the PS2 Dave. You'll have a slew of quality PS2 games and also the entire PS1 library at your disposal. Best of both worlds. Even better now that the PS2 is only 50 dollars more than the PS1/screen combo.

Yeah, I'm thinking of doing that. I am waiting for gamestop to have a good deal on a used bundle (like FFX, memory card, extra controller for like $180.) they were running some pretty good deals before the price cut for used systems....

I'm still playing with my N64. Over Thanksgiving last Fall, I picked up several games on the cheap. Now, if I could just find some time to finish Turok 2... (and before I buy a GameCube)

Every time I go into a Funcoland/Gamestop I peruse the used SNES/PSone aisle. I rarely find anything good (for a decent price!), but I'm always on the lookout.
I routinely play PSone games on my PS2 with the texture-smoothing option on and the games look great IMO.
I have no problem switching back and forth between generations, whether it be Punch-Out!! on the NES, Ape Escape on the PSone, or Devil May Cry on the PS2. If the gameplay is tight it's all good. :D
