So, I don't see anybody has mentioned it yet, but the new Greg Araki STARZ series NOW APOCALYPSE is surprisingly kind of wonderful. I'm not generally a fan of Araki's writing as I usually find it too nihilistic and prefer it when he directs the work of others (in case you wanted to know, lol) but I am in love with this show. I was prepared to give it a pass but watched one 'on demand' out of curiosity (since, truth be told, a friend of mine couldn't stop talking about all of the hot boys and nudity and I'm JUST shallow enough, apparently) and the characters are so winning and the feel of it just mysterious enough that I got immediately hooked

It's the story of a small group of LA twenty somethings trying to negotiate life while there MAY or MAY NOT be a secret alien invasion happening under their noses. It SOUNDS incredibly weird (it's Greg Araki so you know going in that it will be a little weird, by default) but I found it really rewarding and I genuinely like these group of characters. It's sharply written and, for lack of a better word, fun.

It's currently airing on STARZ weekly but I JUST found out that you can stream the entire season on the STARZ App without waiting (I've finished half) and they've been nice enough to put the complete first episode on youtube to get people interested.

    It can be found here:

I have my own theories but I'll keep them to myself for now!

Don't revoke any cards I may have, but I'm gonna guess you guys recommend Tales From the City? I've never see it...

LOL!!! No revocation of your cards and, yes, recommended highly. And Armistead Maupin's books are wonderful, even the ones beyond the Tales series.

Why are people referring to this as a "reboot"? Sounds more like a continuation to me.

Hmmm, Starz is part of my cable package so I could stream it on the xfinity app on my iPad while working, but I take it this show is NSFW?

Just saw the very worst gay film in years: RAINBOW BRIDGE MOTEL. Nothing at all in the film to recommend it to anyone.

'Pose' landed on BBC2 last week, so I'm 2 episodes in. Now I know what Malcolm McLaren's song 'Deep in vogue' was all about!
Interesting show, still quite relevant for today's times I'm sure....

Well, I am slightly less envious of Will now that there will be a Ryan Murphy version of Boys in the Band with the recent Broadway cast available on Netflix.

Yes, I saw that announcement today and was delighted to read it. After the BIG success it had on stage, I was frankly surprised a film version with this new cast wasn't immediately put into production.

Will this be another movie adaptation of the play, or will it be a recording of a recreation of the stage production like Disney did with Newsies?

Either way, they lost me at Ryan Murphy. I'm sticking to the movie.

Hard to say at this point, though this article seems to make a distinction between plays being "adapted" and being a "filmed version of" so it SOUNDS like it's going to be a movie adaptation (maybe?)

That's what I understood from the article, too. It'll be a movie not a stage reconstruction. I'm happy it's coming because I think the cast is terrific, but I'm not sure I wouldn't have preferred a filmed record of the stage version since we already have a very faithful movie adaptation.
