Gateway DVD Recorder $299 AR (1 Viewer)

At lunch today, I went into our local "Gateway Country" B&M store. I was pretty surprised to find a huge banner advertising their new stand-alone DVD Recorder for $349. - $50. rebate = $299.



It was +R / +RW format and included a front panel firewire input ... also quite nice looking with a mirror/chrome front panel. They literally had stacks of them when you walked in the store.

If it weren't for my summer purchase of Panny DMR-E60, I'd be begging for this for Christmas.

I don't know about this one. I haven't heard anything good about the reliability of Gateway's other excursions into electronics (digital cameras, TVs, etc.). Maybe someone can relate their experiences with this model......
