Only 2 or 3 games have ever had a 10/10 before so that's pretty impressive! (I think Zelda

OT, Soul Calibre 2 & Chrono Trigger)

I think it was Chrono Cross that got a 10. Never played it, but I would probably give Trigger a 10 myself.

A lot of magazines that review games for N64 and PSX/PS2 have been giving out 10/10s a lot more. EGM gave all (but I think 2) or its 10/10 scores within the last year and a half, and if its more than just one or two, then it can be considered a lot. Its not often you get that many perfect games in that much time.

Whats amazing is that THPS2 got a 10 last year and now this year THPS3 get a 10! I personally think THPS series is the BEST sports series EVER....also the games are some of the best out there of any genre. From Thursday night to November 15th I can't be disturbed as I will be playing THPS3 :)

I loved THPS2, but I'm not sure if there is enough between the games to warrant a purchase between each sequel. Its kinda like Dead or Alive 2 compared to Dead or Alive 3. The only difference is the graphics, the places, and thats about it. The gameplay is essentially the same.
Then again, I'm not a sports fan and I'm not a huge THPS fan either.

The Tony Hawk series is so perfect, that just the addition of new levels warrants a purchase. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Online play.
To those of you with taste, and ARE picking up the game, lets meet online to skate! Got my Linksys USB ethernet adapter at Best Buy today ($44.96), and am raring to go... :)

I have taste, its just that THPS3 is like DoA3: been there, done that, nothing new. Online play is new, but I don't want to spend more money to buy a modem or adapter in addition to the game just to play it online. A game should not cost more than $60 to play it online out of the box, IMHO. I will eventually get a modem, but thats when I get FFXI.

Morgan,
All I can say is wow! Tony Hawk is a GREAT series. I think every sequel in this series deserves a purchase. I for one am jumping at the chance to play on-line. Speaking of that, I'm not looking forward to running the ethernet connection to the living room of my house. Ouch!

The mind boggles.

Woohoo! Managed to work Final Fantasy into another thread, too. Congrats.
FYI to everyone else, picked my copy of THPS3 up at Electronics Boutique about 30 minutes ago. Price matched Best Buy @ $39.99. I'm off to play... :)

So you /won't/ be buying FFXI by that very logic?!
It's alright to say you just aren't interested in picking up THPS3 even with online play & that /in your opinion/ it doesn't justify a modem purchase. You don't need to make sweeping statements, like the one above, to back it up.
Me, I think the online play is *exactly* what THPS3 needed - it's a major change without altering the fundamental gameplay, and it's certainly got people talking about it. Can't wait to see it in action.

I really feel like I'm missing out on something with this series. For some reason, though, I just can't get into it. I just don't get excited about doing "tricks" & button combos.

Anyone know if THPS3 will be ported to the PC? I picked up THPS2 recently, and it plays very nicely (yummy 1024x768 resolution). This is a game I'd rather have on the PC, I think.
But if the THPS3 comes to the GCN, then it and Rogue Leader may force me to do something drastic... :)

DaveF,
You better be getting a GameCube then, as THPS3 will be there on November 18th!

I loved THPS2. I also loved Jet Force Gemini, but I'm not a JFG fan. Why can't it be the same way with THPS?
Online play is a cool thing, but there is only one game that supports it and I don't have a modem to use with it. I would need to buy a modem for PS2, and to tell the truth, its not worth it unless I have more than one game available to use it with. By the time FFXI comes out, there will be several games (plus I will spent any amount of money to play FFXI as long as its not some crazy amount).
