I'm a rather limited gamer, with my experience limited to countless hours of just a few games (Warcraft II, Starcraft, Half Life/Counterstrike).

I've got a Compaq 1Ghz laptop, with 384 megs of RAM but no 3D chip. I will soon be taking a 20 hour plane trip! The plane has a laptop power jack for me, and I thought I'd pick up some games to pass the time.

    I'm thinking of the following:

    Alpha Centauri
    Diablo II
    Warcraft III

And of course I'll bring along Chessmaster and my NES/SNES emulators .

I'm looking for some absolutely awesome games that will just suck me in, and make the time fly by (no pun intended). I've been perusing "Best Of" lists from a few years back, but thought I'd also try some recommendations from you guys.

Roller Coaster Tycoon, one of my faves, has very low hardware requirements.

For something a little different, you may want to try EA's Tiger Woods. It is designed to run on laptops with low hardware requirements. I'm not much of a sports fan in general, or a golf fan in particular, but I find the game enthralling, and it works wonderfully on my older hand-me-down laptop. The 2003 version (last year's model) runs about $10.

Goodness! Where are you flying to that necessitates a 20 hour plane ride?
