I was at the San Diego Comic Con this weekend and not only did I go to the DVD producers panel and had a look at Willy Wonka, Hannibal, and Terminator. I also attended the Matt Groening Futurama panel and he said the first season will be out in January. They just finished recording commentary for every episode.
He also said that they recently completed the commentaries fot the Simpsons Season 2. He said that he has run out of stuff to say and will just be whistling on the commentary for season 3.
BTW, they did not show what the films looked like on the DVD panel, only the supplements. Hannibal's stuff looks extensive.

That is great news! I am big fan of Futurama and will certainly be buying each season as they are released!

This is great news, although it's a little surprising given that "Futurama" has only been on 2 & a half seasons. If I get a chance during tomorrow's chat I think I'll ask Peter Staddon to confirm this.

Cool! I loved the first season of this show. Then when Fox decided to move it to Tuesday, I wasn't able to catch it as often...and now it's on so early on Sunday that I'm rarely able to watch it, unless I tape it. These will look great alongside those Simpson boxsets.

Wow! I never thought we'd see it on DVD before 2003. Now, all we need is The Family Guy and The Critic on DVD and I'll be able to sleep easy [IMG]

Yes Yes YES!!!! This is such good news! Thank you Matt Groening, Peter Staddon, and Richard Nixon's head! Of course, I have to echo the desire for The Critic on DVD, but that doesn't have anything to do with this....

I've seen all of 5 Futurama episodes and enjoyed them all. This will be a great opportunity to catch up on a very funny show. Commentary is the spice of life.

Great news. I never got into watching Futurama and have regretted it, so I've been hoping for an announcement of Futurama DVD releases.
I also second (third, fourth, fifth, whatever) DVD releases of Family Guy and the Critic (which is a Columbia Tristar title, not FOX).

This is very good news. The very strange thing (and I still can not figure it out) is that I like Futurama very much and never liked Simpsons! I will definitely get Futurama on DVD.

"Ouch!" said my wallet. TV-product is definately getting in the way of my movie purchases. X-files, Simpsons, Futurama, Black Adder, The League of Gentlemen, Absolutely Fabulous, Monty Python's Flying Circus etc.
Next week I bet they publish releasedates for Twin Peaks, Northern Exposure, Babylon 5, Oz and Millenium.

Coolness, I loved to see Futurama in my book shelf(will have one soon) with my glowing collection of dvds. I just hope it costs as much as the current Simpson box set(that coming soon of course). And I'm all up for a Critic box set too, simlar to the Clerks animated series dvd(another good show cancelled).
