I posted this in the movies section but my question was never really answered, so I will try here.
This special edition box set for FMJ reads on amazon.com
"Edition Details:
• Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)
• Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen, Box set
• ASIN: B00005LC3Y"
WIDESCREEN.
All previous editions I can find up until this one look like they are not widescreen but full screen.

"Edition Details:
• Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)
• Color, Closed-captioned
• Theatrical trailer(s)
• Full-screen format
• ASIN: B00005ATQF "
My question is:
Will this collectors edition be FMJ as it was originally released or is it repackaging the existing FMJ's out there that are obviously not WIDESCREEN but full screen. Is there a WIDESCREEN edition out there that I have missed?
I have been waiting for a widescreen edition of this movie and will buy this if it is.
Thanks in Advance.

I don't know the answer to your question, but that is the Creative Design Art box set. It's not apparent from their web site what the specifics are for the FMJ DVD (they usually have a picture of the sell sheet, but not for this one). But you can go to their web site and contact/ask them about it.

I believe that this is a typo. If Warner and the Kubrick estate really wanted FMJ to be widescreen, why didn't they do it in the inital remeastered release?

THe Creative Design collectors sets are just repackaging's of the Warner Bros. DVD's THe new KUBRICK collection (Full Metal Jacket, Clockwork Orange, 2001) ARe going to be full framed (Except 2001) and The remastered versions (DD5.1) Inclded with the movie is the soundtrack on a ceperate C.D. a numbered reproduction of a film frame, a collectible booklet (with more info than those damned MGM booklets) and an offer to get a free poster (reproduction of original poster art) MSRP is a 59.95. I already have 2001 and it's really neat to have all these things together in one box. FUll metal Jacket and Clockwork Orange are coming out in september.

Well a Clockwork orange, accoring to the above post, is widescreen. Was the standalone disc widescreen also? (I do not have it).

Both the intital and remastered versions of A Clockwork Orange are in widescreen.
As for Full Metal Jacket, Kubrick has never allowed a widescreen transfer of the film. Warner wanted to do widescreen releases of his films on laserdisc back in the early 90's but he wouldn't allow it on Full Metal Jacket or The Shining. For any other info on the whole Kubrick widescreen debate, there's numerous old threads on it you can search for.
