One of the great refuges of die hard DVDA enthusiasts has been the lack of pro DSD equipment to edit DSD recordings. Oops! That just fell as we reported earlier in other threads...here are the details:

The reason to post this arcane technical data is that this makes DSD editing more cost effective, more convenient, and keeps the signal chain "more pure" so we music lovers get the best possible sound.
This will heat up major studio production of titles as well, IMHO.

Neat! I'd love to know how they do DSD EQ'ing and other DSP operations, but I suppose that's their trade secret?

I wonder how actual engineers will like this new line of DSD editing machines (apart from Michael Bishop, whose endorsement has already been used by the company).

    Lee,

Wow, all of one solution exists today, and its limited to 8 channels. That's progress indeed.

Of course we haven't addressed mixing yet -- SaDie is a mastering and editing solution and you have to have a mixdown to feed SaDie.

How soon do you think the studios will be running out to replace their existing equipment for SaDie stations?

My guess is not too quickly, especially given the current economic situation.

    Regards,

Upon further review, I see that release is still 4 months away (February 2003), so the 8 channel solution isn't even available yet.
