    Jeff,

    Why are you selling it?

Can you take a digital picture of the unit?

And does it include the 8PSK module?

    Thanks!

    Sonnie,

I moved in early November. At my new house I have DirecTv now so I don't need the Dish receivers.

I don't have a digital camera, although I could take a pic from my camcorder (it will be low-res though). There are no scratches or any damage to the receiver. It is in excellent condition. It wasn't in a cabinet so it has always had plenty of ventilation to the unit.

It doesn't have the 8PSK module, only the HD OTA module. Dish used to be running a special where you got an 8PSK free with 1 yr sub. to Discovery HD.

    Thanks Jeff,

So can you tell me, without the 8PSK module will I still be able to receive Dish's HD programming such as HBO-HD and SHO-HD as well as CBS-HD (with a waiver which is no problem)?

I don't care for Discovery HD if that is the only reason the 8PSK is needed.

    Thanks again....

    Just to jump in here,
Yes, at the current time, the 8PSK is needed only for Discovery HD, but that will change before too long as Dish is moving all their HD to 8PSK encoding (it saves bandwidth).
I'm very sure that when they make that move, they will make some kind of deal for current HD customers (last summer mine was free).

I am a little up in the air on what to do. I'm gonna have to really think this through.

I only have 2 sets of component inputs. One is for DVD and the other will be used for a satellite receiver. If I get a 6000 right now then I'll end up having to sell it when I get the PVR 921. No need to have a second tuner then and wouldn't have anyway to connect the 6000 for full functionality if both component inputs are occupied.

Right now my local network affiliates are not planning on going digital until the 4th quarter 2003. I would only benefit from HBO, SHO, and CBS through Dish until then and the 921 should be available about that time if not before (I hope).

Is there a place to find out when Dish will be adding more HD channels?

    Thanks!

That is a very good price. I paid $800 for mine (new). I was wondering if anyone knows if Dish will have/has ever had some sort of "trade in+cash" deal with the release of newer-generation receivers. I want to get the 921 HD-PVR when it is released (which is when?), but I don't really want the hassle of selling the old system. And will the 921 use the same HD dish as the 6000? Will the 921 still have the single-source taping limitation?

    Allen,

I don't believe there's been an official announcement on the 921. I'm personally just hoping for sometime in 2003.

I agree on the price, that's what got me here. But for only 3 channels I don't know if I want to spend that much for a few months - or less than a year probably. At that time they probably won't be worth near as much. If my local OTA affiliates were broadcasting DTV I might would do it. It's a difficult decision for me.

Yes, I guess its a hard decision for only 3 channels. Here in DFW we have the entire lineup of Digital stations and this season has a LOT more HD available every evening. I do enjoy watching HD movies on HBO and Showtime though. My DVD purchases have gone down since I started watching movies in HD and DD.

Who knows about the 921? I guess they are keeping it somewhat of a secret. I imagine that it will be VERY expensive (>$1000).
