when setting up a surround system if your L/R front speakers are restricted to say 4' apart. would you want your rear surrounds same distance apart or further apart if possible? my room is 15'/20' I have the option of putting my surrounds 20' apart to the sides or directly 3'behind me 6' apart trying to decide what the best option is and dont have the luxury of moveing the speakers around being they are inwall and cant go around cutting holes everywhere. thanks for replies

Personally, I'd go with the side placement.

Goto www.dolbydigital.com and then click on home theater on the left column for ideas on surround placement for the rears...
Side placement would be best but they do illustration for rear wall mounting and different ways of trying them out for maximum effectiveness >>> though in your case you are doing in-wall thus eliminating alot of what you can do...
