The Digital Bits is saying From the Earth to the Moon is being re-released as a "Signature Edition" on 9/20/05

This time it will be presented in anamorphic widescreen video along with Dolby Digital EX audio. Looks like alot of the same extras but now they can be accessed by set-top dvd players instead of PC dvd drives.

EDIT: DVD Times also has an article with bigger cover, and looks like DTS as well!!! http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=57491

Why me? Looks like it's off to Ebay to see what I can get for my used copy.

Curious, being that this was a mini series shot for HBO TV, wouldn't the original source materials used to this new video have been shot for a standard TV 4:3 format originally? Perhaps Hanks had prepared for this and it was shot with this in mind?

I'd love to hear what the original aspect ratio was for this. Did they shoot this with both 4:3 and 16:9 in mind from the start?

I have the original set but I'll probably buy it again if it looks good at 16:9.

A friend of mine was a camera assistant on this production, and if I remember correctly (we've fallen out of touch so I can't ask him again), it was shot with both 4:3 and 16:9 in mind, so both aspect ratios can be used and are technically correct (not like Buffy widescreen).

What I want to know is which aspect ratio is the intended one. It is possible to compose for one aspect ratio and protect for another, however usually one of the aspect ratios is preferred.
