I've noticed that both friends dvd's have a fair amount of edge enhancement or pixelization especially in the title sequence... it seems to be even more apparent since I started using component video cables... I have a 32" JVC tv and a Sony DVP NS300 Dvd player... on my old 32" Sanyo (much cheaper) using rca's, the pixelization is less apparent.

But, every single review I've seen from Amazon to DVDfile has stated that the picture quality is very good, especially for a tv show... does this mean that most television transfers are horrible with lots of edge enhancement?

My other dvd's (i.e. matrix, xmen, toy story)look great though with the setup I have...
Anybody else notice this?? (hopefully) Does the edge enhancement lessen with HDtv??

    thanks

You might be confusing edge enhancement and aliasing--aliasing looks like pixelization or graniness. The Friends DVDs tend to look a bit grainy, and the busy opening titles show some aliasing on the cityscapes and whatnot.

But I don't see any edge enhancement to speak of.

I guess that's what is is. Just wanted to make sure it's normal. Do you know if it looks better (the graininess) on hdtv.
    thanks
