roughly translated

Disc 1 French Version
Disc 2 English Version
Disc 2 The extras

So we know it is coming at last to France, should not be long before r1 comes out, most likely only in a 2 disc edition

I cannot wait for this one. So many good dvds are coming out

Hmm.. I have a feeling we'll be getting a lot of Scorsese Special Edition DVDs around the time that Gangs of New York comes out.

I saw this on the shelves at my local DVD store in Belgium this week. The first disc is an extended version of the film, not a french version. Disc two is the original, theatrical version. Both include French and English tracks. It looks like a great set, but I only have a region one player, so I'm just gonna have to wait...I'll see if I can rent it sometime next week and post a review.

Stay calm !!!

I saw the 3 DVD Set.

The movie is presented with a new Anamorphic 2.35 Master and the first two discs present the theatrical version. You have two discs because pf space MPEG 2 compression, and not because the lengh is different between the french and the english version.
the first disc has DTS et DD 5.1 in French
the second disc has DTS et DD 5.1 in English with non removable French subtitles
The third disc has "The Directors" Documentary about Martin Scorsese and a small featurette about the real mobsters of Las Vegas.

The Commentary is an audio track for the Blind people.

Forget this release, the packaging is great but not the bonuses

There is some rumors about a R1 SE for the end of 2003 with a new documentary on the Movie, by Laurent Bouzereau, who made the documentaries on Cape Fear and Taxi Driver.

I can wait...

Picture is cropped on all four sides, in comparison to the region 2 Universal edition that I have. :frowning:

Some scenes are a little softer than the Univeral edition. :frowning:

French subtitles are burned-in on the English language version. :frowning:

The Scorsese documentary has a French voice-over, with no English subs.

No English subs on the Scorsese docu. :frowning:

The packaging is gorgeous. :)

I took out the French-language disc and replaced it with the Universal disc! :D

Basically, there is less to this than meets the eye.
