I just watched "The Diary" on disc 4, and I saw it when it first aired, but MAN, that Rocky-esque music during the baseball game...MAN. That was just PERFECT.
Perfect. Just plain perfect. That scene. That episode. The entire series. THE LIMITED EDITION YEARBOOK SET.
PERFECT.
If somehow, you're still on the fence about getting the yearbook set instead of the 6-discer, PLEASE DON'T WAIT ANY LONGER!!!
I've been through the first 15 episodes, and the last one, Noshing and Moshing, made me want to stand up and give Paul Feig and Judd Apatow, along with all of the writers, a standing ovation. If I had to do this all over again and they charged $250 for this set, I would buy it in an instant. And I'm a poor college student. Maybe it's because I've been watching it in marathon mode, but if I had to get rid of all of my DVDs except just one, I would keep this.
I'm working on it. Got the first three discs completely and totally done - deleted scenes, promos, behinds the scenes materials, etc. All except for commentary. But fear not. It shall come to be soon enough.
For the time being, I've still got Discs 4 thru 8 to go. And slowly fearing the moment when I pop in disc 6, and knowing that that will be the last episodes I will watch.
The deleted scenes are hilarious. The one where the "geeks" are watching the porno. "Shouldn't that dog be on a lease?" And the one with Sam working out. "BING!"
And I've decided on something: I'm going to use some slim CD cases and put each disc in those. I'm really not liking the sliding of the DVD in and out of the paper case. Very fearful of scratching...
Such as when Bill says "Hey, I don't want to be late for Biology." And when Neil asks him why, he replies with "Because the last time I was late, everybody looked at me."
Exactly how I used to be, during my early days of high school. I hated to be late to classes because when I opened the door, everybody would turn and look at me.
I'm trying to listen to the commentary for "Carded and Discarded," but the show audio is too loud sometimes for me to try to concentrate on the commentary.
Am I the only one here who starts laughing his ass off every time Bill simply appears on the screen.
I mean, I don't care what it is he's doing. If he just walks on screen, looks around, and walks off, I'm already on the floor rolling.
The geeks are the greatest thing to ever hit my TV.
(And, I think one of my favorite episodes is "Dead Dogs and Gym Teachers." Bill and Coach Fredericks... amazing. Plus, the ending is one of the most touching scenes I've seen in a long, long time...)
My favorite Bill scene is when he gets Cindy Sanders as a lab partner and, in teasing Sam, wonders, "Should I wear Hi Karate or Old Spice," or something to that nature.
What I love about him is as completely geeky as he is, he's funny and clever at the same time.
Yet no one ever pays attention to him even though he's always right. He's the smartest guy in the room and yet even his fellow geeks don't give him any respect. It's that terrible lack of perspective that youth affords.
I listened to a bit of the commentary on "The Diary," and I think the show audio was a bit less noticable, but it may have been because the scenes just contained dialogue.
