I read your post in that other thread... I'm very sorry to
hear about Duncan. The dogs I've had were all members of my
family... I know how hard it can be. I hope that you're
doing alright. Again, I've very sorry to hear that.

Frank, he was a beautiful dog. I'm sorry for your loss.

I appreciate your kindness and thoughts. I will miss him greatly. He went from a 150 lb goofball/big baby to 130 lb weakling who only wanted to sleep. He rarely ate and when he did it had to be people food he could not resist (he had not eaten dog food in about two weeks). I tried to get him to eat some soft scrambled eggs this morning (one of his favorites), all he did was lick them once and lay back down. Maybe later when I feel like it (better) I will write up a list his ribbons.

I really do feel for you... I have days that I am saddened
about my first dog that I had from (my age) 4 to 15... and
I am 31 now. He was a great friend and is missed every day.

Duncan was born on 02-18-96. As you can see he was very young when we started showing him and had a promising start. Although we showed him in several States including Carlisle Pennsylvania and Washington D.C., he seemed to do best in his home state. Here is a list of ribbons my little buddy won:
Local Dog Show (they are just for fun and are a blast to do, mostly for kids) my daughter showed him both times. She was 8 and 9 years old respectively:
    10-05-96 1st Place Largest Breed
10-05-96 1st Place Best of Breed (Best in Show)
    10-05-97 1st Place Largest Breed
10-05-97 1st Place Best in Show
American Kennel Club Ribbons (my wife handled him in these shows)
    Charlottesville/Albemarle, Virginia
    10-27-96 1st Place
    10-27-96 Reserve Winners
    Virginia Beach, Virginia
    11-02-96 1st Place
    11-02-96 Reserve Winners
    11-03-96 1st Place
    11-03-96 Best Opposite Sex
    11-03-96 Winners Purple Ribbon
    Richmond, Virginia
    04-06-97 3rd Place
It was shortly after this we found out he was ill (Dec 97). We decided not to show him any more because we did not want to stress him. He saw 3 different Vets one being a Specialist. They told us he had about 2 years to go. But we babied him and fed him as prescribed and we got 2 years beyond what the doctors thought. Every kid that ever saw him fell in love with him. The bullmastiff was originally called “The Gamekeepers Nightdog” but to me he is truly and will always be Gentle Giant. RIP Dunk.

Again, Frank: My heart goes out to you and your family. It's a damn shame to lose a dog so young, and it's obvious that Duncan was well-loved.

His life may have been short, but at least he had a sweet one with a devoted family.

    Frank,

I'm sorry. I just saw this thread, if you like close the
"Words for a Difficult Day" over in After-hours.

After seeing your post in another topic (and not realizing this one existed) I put that up for you, most won't understand the title or why its there.

His record is top notch on those happier days, you must be proud.
