DVD File reports that SUNRISE is being released in January, but only by special offer. This seems an unusual marketing strategy. How does one receive the "special offer"?

Buy 3 Fox Movie Classics DVDs, then mail in 3 proofs, and probably shipping and handling.

Oh yeah...you have to wait a whole month between each release. So...since it takes roughly 6 weeks for a delivery, Sunrise will be released in January, yet will reach consumers by April.

Don't give in...tell Fox that you want Sunrise by paying just for ONE DVD.

(Addenum...I really want The Grapes of Wrath, but I'm really not interested in the other titles. As of now, I haven't purchased a DVD I didn't intend to watch and I'm certain to keep that logic.)

One Problem! I have already purchased the Movie Classics. I bought them when the first came out and at the higher price. Do I have to buy them again? That is certainly not fair to a dedicated buyer ... one who has bought ALL of the classic films ever announced.

I still don't understand. I already own the DVD's of All About Eve, How Green is My Valley and Gentlemen's Agreement. I bought them several years ago. Do I have to buy them again? This is not fair!!!!

Unfortunately, the "Sunrise" dvd will only be available when you buy three of Fox's classic series dvds being released in 2003. However, you can purchase any combination of three of those dvds released throughout 2003, and the "Sunrise" dvd will be mailed to you. The list of those dvds scheduled for release next year is very impressive and are among the best films ever made with a MSRP of $19.98 which most of us can buy at about $14-15 purchase price.

Some of us might not agree with this marketing strategy by Fox, but at least they're releasing a significant number of great film titles at very affordable pricing. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to have "Laura", "The Grapes of Wrath", "The Ox-Bow Incident" and several other similar great classics in my collection. Three titles a month will be released starting in January.

    Ah, so it's been confirmed?

In principle, I don't like this arrangement much.

On the other hand though, buying 3 (actually more) of the upcoming titles is something I'd do anyway, so it's not the end of the world.

Has there been any word how this will work for people outside the USA? Almost all my DVD's are bought from R1 if I have a choice, and I will most likely buy at least three from this series as well, and I am interested in Sunrise as well. Can I send in for this DVD offer? (I live in Norway BTW)

Sorry, I haven't heard how they're going to address dvd consumers outside the USA.

My criticism is mainly one of frustration, Sunrise will be out and I won't be able to get it for potentially, months, because I'm not going to buy movies I don't like (Gentleman's Agreement) or like, but aren't overly enthusiastic about (How Green Was My Valley); just to get Sunrise.
But I am very happy that Fox is releasing Sunrise and that I'll eventually be able to own it and several other classic Fox films at extremely consumer-friendly prices. At $14 and change, I'll be willing to take a chance on movies I haven't seen, like Laura, that I would have stayed away from at a higher price point.

    Well, I'll play ball.

Can't wait to see what other classics they bring out.

    Consider Sunrise mine.
