Just recently I saw posts that indicate that Fox is releasing two very highly anticipated titles: All That Jazz in R4 and Akira Kurusawa's Kagemusha in R2. Neither film has yet been announced for an R1 release.
Does anyone know of a reason why Fox would be doing this? It almost seems like they are trying to make sure everyone buys themselves a region free DVD player :)

All That Jazz is coming out this Wednesday, in two days.

All That Jazz is coming sometime this year in R1. Ron and others wrote extensively about it during their last studio trip.

Haven't heard anything about Kagemusha though.

Hi, Brook!

The point that is being made is why are

we domestically being deprived of these

releases when other regions are getting

them first?

It's no major big deal as far as I am

concerned -- this stuff happens all the time.

I'm just a little more attached to the title

in question than most.

Plus THE ADVENTURES OF FORD FAIRLANE has just been released in R4 also. Anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1), Theatrical Trailer, Dolby 2.0 (from memory). These titles will receive R1 releases eventually. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind release patterns but as Ron says, this stuff happens all the time.

It may just be a planned revenue stream model that requires

some films to hit R2/R4 brefore R1 becuase so many films

hit R1 before R2/R4?

Could even out the revenue streams from different markets.

It may be a benefit in that any problems could be fixed before a R1 release.

Just like the subtitle problem on Terminator when it was

released in R4 before R1.
