I'm glad this didn't happen or we would get nothing but crappy catalog titles like Fox normally puts out.
I don't know which "crappy catalog titles" you're thinking of, but over the past few years I've bought some superb Fox titles. Blood And Sand, Twelve O-Clock High, Wild River, Laura, The Agony And The Ecstasy, Carmen Jones, The Comancheros and so on

Fox had some issue with certain titles, but you can almost say that about every company as none of them are perfect especially those that have put out a lot of classic films onto BD.

I was referring to their archive program. If they can't keep up with the quality of catalog titles that Warner does in their archive program then theres no way they would increase the number of Warner catalog titles released on Blu or DVD if they took over. Also the quality would most likely take a down turn if they did based on their archive program of catalog titles.
But as Robert said all studios have released good and bad quality Blu titles but Warner definitely has some of the highest quality standards.

How Fox manages their archive program is weird. Unlike Warner, who has the much respected George Feltenstein overlooking WA. Fox appears to not have such an individual that cares about their product presentation. At least, that's how it appears to me when HTF visited Fox at our last HTF Meet. Matter of fact, I don't think the folks that are responsible for their BD catalog releases have much to do with their archive program.

Whoever handles the job at Fox for their Archives program should hand the job over to Schawn Belston & HTF member Jamie Finn...THEY'D know what to do with it!!!

I did mentioned to Mr. Belston that I wished he took over that program.

Count me in as another one who does NOT want too many classic film eggs kept in one basket (or even one less basket). It's too dangerous, I don't care who the owner is.
Very sensible.

This is the beginning of the end.

"You know the thing about a shark, like Rupert Murdoch he's got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye".

Fox doesn't have an archive program for Blu-ray.

Is that a special two for one offer, if so i might be in, i'd like a little icing sugar on top too.

I'm a bit miffed, why didn't Twentieth Century Fox call themselves Twentieth Century Cat and why does Asda Madeira cake taste better than Tesco Madeira cake, forget about the meaning of life and are we alone in the universe, those questions are not as important, oh and the latest report says Fox are the first studio to pass the $1 billion dollar mark in 2014, a strong year for them.
 "Kitty, kitty. Here Jonesy"

Of course, if Fox were to purchase Warner, then all the talented people who currently do the work at WHV and WA would then be Fox employees.Everyone is pessimistically speculating that Fox would bring down Warners, but the opposite could happen - Warners could uplift Fox. Think of it as a large infusion of talent. An average team adding a superstar. Nothing is known for certain, and there isn't a precedent for this. As for the Murdoch aspect, let's see a count of hands on how many people actually think Mr. Murdoch is even aware there is an Archive program or what it's policies are.

I think this is about adding value to shares and making shareholders happy, i doubt this would be good for Warner, good for film fans or good for the industry as a whole, now i'd love to see MGM snapped up by Sony/Columbia but that's because i think they would then invest and make new 4K scans of their classic library thus preserve the films, they would restore The Alamo and other films that need attention and they would be good for film fans. Is this Deja Vu, have i said this already, hmmm probably.

As each passing year goes by the worse my memory gets.

I don't think Mr Murdoch cares about Warner outside of how the stock market value of Fox shares will rise if they buy Warner.

But for how long? I've never seen such a merger yet in which many folks didn't lose their jobs as the new merged company eliminates duplicate positions.

...but just as often, this includes the internal empire builders plus those simply not pulling their weight.

Coincidentally, the communications company I was with until retiring recently had just completed such an exercise...taking almost 2 years after their last merger to see where all the fat was...who would be needed going forward, and who wouldn't. Once that analysis was complete though, they 'flattened' the org in record time, the biggest cuts coming from the ranks of their expensively salaried and optioned mid to upper mid-level Managers, including a whole tier of Directors. Thankfully, I had already set my retirement in motion, but even watching all this unfold from the sidelines, was quite the floor show.

So typically, I think the deepest cull after merger isn't among those with their sleeves up beavering away in the trenches, but from the usual clot of middle-level management...which becomes more glaring after 2 or 3 companies merge. Ironically, and perhaps significantly, I saw more staff escorted to the door from the parent company.
