Fox, hopefully you can bring us: Anamorphic versions (R1) of: MRS DOUBTFIRE TRUE LIES BROKEN ARROW
I know this a large list and I can thank God if a quarter of it gets released on 2007, but I guess we can always dream, right? Here comes it: State Fair (1933) Springtime in the Rockies Jane Eyre A Tree Grows in Brooklyn Road House Hello Frisco Hello Cry of the City Dragonwyck Mother Wore Ties Tin Pan Alley Forever Amber Thin Ice Rose of Washinton Square Sentimental Journey Suez Cavalcade Clunny Brown Margie I'll Get By Three Little Girls in Blue The Iron Curtain Daisy Kenyon The Foxes of Harrow Centennial Summer Three Blind Mice Captain From Castille This Above All Tobacco Road Son of Fury The Fan Sitting Pretty Slaterry's Hurricane Come to the Stable With a Song in My Heart You Were Meant For Me The President's Lady Broken Arrow (1950) The Gunfighter Father was a Fulback Belle Star Western Union Ramona Four Men and a Prayer Song of the Island Sweet Rosie O'Grady Sing Baby Sing Swanee River Stardust Rawhide The Lodger Untamed The Great American Broadcast (Alice Faye at the peek of her beauty) Rise and Shine Under two Flags Chad Hanna When My Baby Smiles at Me Lloyd's of London Garden of Evil A Bell for Adano Tales of Manhattan My Gal Sal Man Hunt Remember the Day The Story of Alexander Graham Bell Stanley and Livingstone Hangover Square The Magnificent Dope Rings on Her Fingers Wee Willie Winkie Irish Eyes Are Smiling
Dreaming into 2007 * In the 4+ years as a member, my wish list of movies of the 20th Century Fox banner has dwindled from more that a dozen or more (as some were added along the way) to a mere 4. Like RafaelPires, I'm still waiting for : THE GUNFIGHTER (1950 with Gregory Peck). The other 3 are: THE FLIM-FLAM MAN (1967 with George C. Scott) VIVA ZAPATA (1952 with Marlon Brando) WHO IS HARRY KELLERMAN AND WHY IS HE SAYING THOSE AWFUL THINGS ABOUT ME (1971 with Dustin Hoffman) Maybe 2007 will be the year! (assuming Fox still owns them.)
Lots of great Fox catalog titles came out in 2006, so here's hoping several of these will see the light of day in 2007: ROAD HOUSE (1948) CRY OF THE CITY (1948) MAN HUNT (1941) --announced for imminent '07 release ZOO IN BUDAPEST (1933) THE FLIM-FLAM MAN (1967) MAN ON A TIGHTROPE (1953) THE SICILIAN CLAN (1969) MOONTIDE (1942) THE LODGER (1944) --announced for imminent '07 release HANGOVER SQUARE (1945) --announced for imminent '07 release INFERNO (1953) VIOLENT SATURDAY (1955) TALES FROM THE CRYPT (1972) --coming to R1 on 9/11/07 VAULT OF HORROR (1973) --coming to R1 on 9/11/07 THE INCIDENT (1967) RAWHIDE (1951) THE GUNFIGHTER (1950) GARDEN OF EVIL (1954) THE BLACK ROSE (1950) --released CAPTAIN FROM CASTILE (1947) --released SAILOR OF THE KING (1953, aka SINGLE HANDED) --released SLATTERY'S HURRICANE (1949) STORY OF ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL (1939) STANLEY & LIVINGSTONE (1939) PRISONER OF SHARK ISLAND (1936) COME TO THE STABLE (1949) GOOD MORNING, MISS DOVE (1955) THE MAGNIFICENT DOPE (1942) TALES OF MANHATTAN (1942, extended version) AN AMERICAN GUERILLA IN THE PHILIPPINES (1950) DESTINATION GOBI (1953) THE RAID (1954) THE GLORY BRIGADE (1953) FIVE FINGERS (1952) THE LOST WORLD (1960) SPECTRE (1977) THE MEPHISTO WALTZ (1971) HAND OF DEATH (1961) THE DAY MARS INVADED EARTH (1962) SPACE MASTER X-7 (1958) CURSE OF THE FLY (1965) --coming to R1 on 9/11/07 WITCHCRAFT (1964) --coming to R1 on 9/11/07 SHE DEVIL (1957) Double Feature: SWAMP WATER (1941) & color remake LURE OF THE WILDERNESS (1952) Double Feature: BIRD OF PARADISE (1932, Fox's superior print) & color remake BIRD OF PARADISE (1951) Double Feature: WIFE, HUSBAND & FRIEND (1939) & remake EVERYBODY DOES IT (1949) Preston Sturges Double Feature: THE POWER & THE GLORY (1933) & THE BEAUTIFUL BLONDE FROM BASHFUL BEND (1949) The Mr. Belvedere Collection: SITTING PRETTY (1948) MR. I know there was talk of True Lies. Anyone know more about that title?
THE EGYPTIAN GARDEN OF EVIL A CERTAIN SMILE TENDER IS THE NIGHT
Peter Bogdanovich's AT LONG LAST LOVE.
THE SWEET RIDE . . . Jacqueline Bisset at the beginning of her career and mega-beautiful plus a brilliant performance by Tony Franciosa.
Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure It's very possible that Fox doesn't even know they have this. They released the CED, laserdisc, and VHS (1992) all under the CBS-FOX label. ITT/Bobbs-Merrill produced the film and released through Fox, so it's also possible the rights reverted back to them. It's a 1977 animated feature directed by Richard Williams (animation director of Who Framed Roger Rabbit - three-time Oscar winner). The film was shot in Panavision, so it requires a new 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. All existing videos are in pan & scan. I think it had only mono sound when released. There was also a book written by John Canemaker on the making of the film that's out of print (maybe possible to have Canemaker do a commentary, perhaps joined by others). Even though it's sort of obscure (any child growing up in the 1980s saw it on The Disney Channel constantly, probably), it's a fantastic animated film. It would just be nice to finally see a remastered version finally in the original Panavision format. Also, please finally release your silent films on DVD. It would also be nice to finally be able to buy Sunrise separately, without having to buy a box set.
