1. The Abyss 2. Cast Away 3. Independence Day 4. Planet of the Apes (2001) 5. The Sound of Music 6. Moulin Rouge 7. Die Hard 8. There's Something (More) About Mary 9. Fight Club 10. Alien 11. Aliens 12. Alien³ 13. Alien: Resurrection 14. Planet of the Apes (1968) 15. The Commitments 16. Predator
Is that, right?
Note to those who haven't read the thread: These numbers are only on the recent reissues of the previously released ones.
It turns out this wasn't all correct as Predator is also #15. I have all of them except Planet of the Apes (1968) and Predator, albeit mostly in the older, unnumbered versions.
Fox's series of "Collector's Edition" DVDs may go down in history as an example of how not to design, produce, and market a specific series of DVDs - or any product for that matter.
The entire series is a sloppy confusing mess which is unfortunate for Fox as each individual title is quite good and had the series been able to find an identity and managed with some sense of continuity I have no doubt it would have been just as popular if not more so than many of the other successful series such as Warner's 2-Disc SE DVDs, New Line's Platinum Series DVDs, and even Fox's own Studio Classics DVDs.
As for the long awaited SE of Office Space, has there been any specific word on what happened between Fox and Mike Judge that has caused this project to get delayed indefinitely?
By now I suspect those in this thread wondering about the long awaited SE of Office Space have already heard the great news, but it looks like it will be a single disc edition, and not one of their infamous 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVDs, but it is still to early to knwo for sure, and the film certainly deserves a 2-Disc edition.
Speaking of which, did Fox ever fix the numbering problem with The Commitments and Predator DVDs?
Also it appears that the following upcoming releases will be part of the series:
#17 I, Robot #18 Man on Fire #19 The Day After Tomorrow
I'm surprised they're still releasing stuff in this so-called "series" with still not even as much as an insert in the DVD case, but The Omen was #29. What is the point of numbering the movies in this series? The actual movies have absolutely nothing in common--they're all just Collector's Editions.
So, just to show an updated list of their Collector's Editions & their Studio Classics (below):
1. The Abyss 2. Cast Away 3. Independence Day 4. Planet of the Apes (2001) 5. The Sound of Music 6. Moulin Rouge (remake) 7. Die Hard 8. There's Something (More) About Mary 9. Fight Club 10. Alien 11. Aliens 12. Alien³ 13. Alien: Resurrection 14. Planet of the Apes (1968) 15. The Commitments 16. Predator 17. I, Robot 18. Man on Fire 19. The Day After Tomorrow 20. The Fly (1986) 21. The Fly 2 22. Elektra: Director's Cut 23. Alien vs. Predator 24. 25. 26. 27. 28. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid 29. The Omen (1976)
I imagine the new version of The Omen was probably stuck in there too somewhere..
