Here are the next two releases......
As with the Spanish release, this CinemaScope movie will (regrettably) be released in Pan/Scan
Coincidentally, Rita Gam just passed away last week. Also in KING OF KINGS (1961).
Some reading this may not know that Brian Keith tragically took his own life in 1997 He had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and was dealing with the recent suicide of his daughter, Baby boomers will know him best from his '60's sitcom A FAMILY AFFAIR. Rick Jason had starred in THE WAYWARD BUS (a TT blu ray release) just before this.

This 1949 Walter (THE KING AND I, STATE FAIR (1945)) musical, set in the '20's, features a performance by Buster Keaton (as a butler). The score is by Alfred Newman. The Technicolor hues will be somewhat lacking as Fox converted their Technicolor negatives to Eastman stock. Reportedly an entertaining slice of escapism. The '20's seemed to be a period of interest in films at this time, particularly at Fox (eg. MARGIE)

Thanks for the previews. I've never seen either of these films. Of course, with the former, I still won't have seen it if all that is offered is pan and scan.

Yes, I won't be buying Sierra Baron either if it's pan-and-scan. A pity: I like both Brian Keith and Rita Gam. (I didn't know she had died. Many thanks Lionel. Rita Gam had one of the most extraordinary and fascinating faces in movies. Film makers should have used her more)

Some good news I received Blue Denim ibn the mail yesterday. It is 16 x9 widescreen with the original stereo track. Surpise - it even includes the original trailer, which I had never seen. Stereo is 2.0.

Thanks Joe. Good news. A friend in Michigan is minding the copy I ordered which I will collect when I visit the USA in July. With the Herrmann score, I'm surprised TT didn't try for this one.

And now, the inevitable question: Will the Fox MOD of THRESHOLD be in 2:35-1 CinemaScope, or full-frame?

Slightly misleading I'd say. Earlier in the Fox Archive program Cinemascope was removed from the artwork of some titles if they weren't released in that format. The Best Things in Life Are Free comes to mind. Now it's as if they really don't care.

Has anyone seen You're My Everything yet? I can't find any reviews and I'd like to know the PQ before purchasing.

I just got a review copy and can scan it for you tonight to report on the PQ. Not ready to do a full review of it yet (had the Will Rogers film Too Busy to Work lined up next), but I can look quickly and report what I find.

As you can see, I went ahead and reviewed it. I had some time this evening, and it was my pleasure to do it.

Matt since you get screeners from Fox, do you have any contacts who could tell you why they have never released such musicals as Tin Pan Alley, Centennial Summer, Sun Valley Serenade, the other unreleased 4 Betty Grable titles and the beautiful Technicolor 20's homage Margie ?

Matt, thanks for another excellent, informative review. It appears this title is safe to pick up.
