I didnt see this discussed in the forum that took place earlier this month. Considering it was nominated for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen
why hasnt this been released on DVD? Any plans to?
Anyone else want this?

I'd but it immediately and demand a refund if the transfer was poor.

"Refund?! REFUND?! Refund?"
Also, My Bodyguard. OAR, and with an isolated score. Better yet, a bonus CD of the score.

BREAKING AWAY is one of the most underrated movies of the last few decades. It's a darned shame we have lost screenwriter Steve Tesich; I would have loved to hear how he came up with such great characters, whether they were based on real folk. But a commentary with director Peter Yates and all the cast would be illuminating.
Can you believe this and APOCALYPSE NOW both lost to KRAMER VS. KRAMER? Que terrore!

I brought this up about a year ago here in feedback. It got about 5 replies, expect about that much. Then I asked about it again when I visited Fox in November for the X-Men kick-off.
Peter's polite reply was "No Plans"...Oh' well, they can't do everything at once. I missed the chat, so I couldn't ask again, but I'm sure it'd be the same answer...they just found out about "Journey to the center of the Earth" so I'm sure that's on the fast track now. Can't win 'em all. :)
Anyhow, chalk me up for a copy if this is a petition. :)

At a time that I only watched sci-fi, action, and OTT comedy films, I adored Breaking Away. It is simply a terrfic movie in all aspects. Release it with the care it deserves and I will buy it.

Glad to see that others like myself Love this movie.
Ashame that Fox wouldnt want to put out a movie like this.
It was rereleased on Tape a few years ago.
Id rather see this then uncut releases of old horror movies.
Fox what gives??

BREAKING AWAY is one of my favorite 'little' films. A quality film with a great script and a thrilling finale that gets me going every time I watch it. Great use of classical music also. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Please Fox, do consider releasing this Academy Award winning (for screenplay) film. Thank you.

"why hasnt this been released on DVD?" An excellent question!
"Any plans to?" Well Fox, are there?
"Anyone else want this?" Yes!!! I would love to see this on DVD (quality transfer of course). I would buy it the moment it was released.

It irks me that this great film isn't currently available. This one is definitely in my top 10 films not yet released to DVD...maybe even top five! Please get the ball rolling on a future release, Fox.

OK! This really burns me up!
That we can only get a few people interested in one of the absolute BEST coming of age storys ever told, has got to stop!
If Ric Perot (who talks in the theater BTW

) can make a pest of himself to Peter Staddon, and Staddon gives in and is making Johnny Dangerously, then I can do the same thing (only keeping my mouth shut during movies

) So, if I'm going to be the only one bumping this thread every 2 days until somebody notices, then so be it.

I rarely visit this section of the HTF but I felt that someone was calling out to me... please, please, please begin the process to bring this wonderful film to DVD. As someone who grew up in central Indiana, I am very fond of this film (even though I am a Purdue alumni :) ). An isolated score would be nice - drawing attention to some of the great Rossini compositions which were wonderfully woven into the film. I would also love to see/hear what Dennis Christopher, Jackie Earl Haley, Daniel Stern, Dennis Quaid, Paul Dooley, Barbara Barrie, and anyone else involved with the film might have to say in remembrance of it.
I already own a copy of the pan and scanned VHS version, but I doubt I'll ever watch it - considering the medium.
And if you do produce a quality DVD version of this film, I promise to buy at least 5 other Fox DVD's at the same time as my way of saying thanks.

Despite your immature trashing of another movie which me and apparently quite a few other HTFers seem to like (Terror Train), I will sign your petition because I too would like to see this one released. Oh, and don't thank me all at once, bub.
Count me in for one, Fox.

Sorry bout that Wes. I didnt mean it like that but what I meant is thats it too bad that Films like this dont get as much attention.
I dont mind an occasional Horror movie if its done right, I just didnt think Terror Train was one of the better ones.
And Brad, great to hear your comments. Good to know people are as passionate about this movie as I am.
The characters in this movie are really well written and the dialouge is amazing. Non wonder it won that year for Screenplay.
All the better that they put something on the Package that says, Academy Award winner.
If they can get the whole cast back from Goonies to do a commentary, why not this one???
Anyone from Fox?? You reading these???
