I hope Fox haven't overlooked one of Scorsese's best films that they have in their vaults. Robert de Niro is superb as usual, but Jerry Lewis is an absolute revelation in a serious role. The film is a hilarious and horrifying look at the consequences of an obessive desire for fame. The film came out in 1982, so perhaps Fox could bring out a 20th Anniversary edition next year.

Fox no longer owns any rights to THE KING OF COMEDY. This was a film financed by Arnon Milchan that was a theatrical-only pickup on its initial release. Milchan's Regency Enterprises licensed the film to Warner Bros. for VHS a few years ago when they had a distribution deal there, and even though Regency themselves have moved to Fox, those previous WB titles stay there.

I have long lobbied for WB to put together a box set for Mr. Scorsese in the vein of their Kubrick and Eastwood boxes. This underrated work should definitely be in there.

Regardless of who owns the rights to this movie, it MUST be released on DVD!

This is one of my most wanted titles that is missing on DVD!

There was a thread for this one recently.

    I'll chime in again.

I'd buy it instantly. Probably my favourite Scorcese film after The Last Waltz (yeah, Raging Bull is third).

I put my vote in. This is a classic....

a WS laserdisc came out a few years back, with no studio affliation, just pressed by Pioneer Japan...

Mark is correct. The current VHS release is Warner. I'll have to remember this title for the next chat.
