I saw that the previously released studio Classic, Mark of Zorro, is being rereleased.
Whats the difference?

Here we go again...

Fox is re-releasing the previous 'Studio Classics' The Mark of Zorro simply as a 'Special Edition', and Lifeboat will not be in the the 'Studio Classics' line-up?

Now that don't make a lick o' sense...

John,
It doesn't make sense, but at this point, I don't really care how it's released as long as it's given a good presentation and that there is at least a commentary track with it.

I think both those are a given, considering Fox's record on transfers and the fact a commentary track has already been recorded. Fox has had a strange year announcing titles then pulling them (they've had us - are still - not knowing what the heck is going on with their Noir series); they need to get their PR together, unless, in some perverse way, they enjoy seeing internet fora filled with folks as confused as, well, as very, very confused things. ;)

Looks like they're releasing Lifeboat the sameday that Universal are releasing there Hitchcock boxset, pretty cool tie-in.

As far as I know, the Universal Hitchcock box is coming out 10/4, while this list has Lifeboat coming out on 10/18...still, both Lifeboat and the Unversal set will be mine on release day. The only one from the Universal set I currently have is Psycho. :emoji_thumbsup:

A lot of these seem to just be promotional packagings or price drops.

Does anyone know what the "Al Pacino Collection" might consist of?

Also, how is Fox releasing "Batman: The Movie" and did they somehow license the franchise for some DTV release or am I just totally confused by the announcement of this title and what it is?

Also curious to hear the specs on the "Bruce Lee Ultimate Collection".

I take it the upcoming "2-packs" on the holiday titles are simply promotional bundelings...

I wonder if we'll see any difference in the Christmas Carol or Miracle discs and I love how Fox opted to package Home Alone 1 with 3 and 2 with 4 just to make doubly sure that nobody would get away with purchasing the only decent films of the series, lol.

I'm also very happy to hear that Ferngully is getting a 2-disc SE treatment, though I wonder how much they could really do with this title?

Great news about Lifeboat though, and we already knew and were anticipating the SE of The Fly!

Let's get some more details on the actual discs now...

I don't understand the rationale for what gets the Studio Classic treatment. Return to Peyton Place gets it, but Lifeboat and The Innocents are consigned to the bargain bin dustheap? Weird.

Fox's PR efforts are arbitrary at best. WHAT A WAY TO GO! was released earlier this year without any fanfare and many retailers didn't carry it. A MAN CALLED PETER, A GUIDE TO THE MARRIED MAN, and MR. HOBBS TAKES A VACATION are tucked into their next wave of horror films, and has anyone figured out the DRESSED TO KILL debacle? Or what happened to PINKY? They have great catalog potential and their transfers are terrific, but I'm not sure that they even know what a "film noir" is (if HUSH, HUSH, SWEET CHARLOTTE was under serious consideration for the noir line).

Very curioius about the Bruce Lee collection. I've held off on the current set, after seeing the terrible quality of it.

was there a problem with the Studio classics version Of "Mark Of Zorro"? I always ment to pick it up, now I don't know what to do. It can be had pretty cheap right now. I thought it had a biography and stuff on it, so I don't know what to make of the SE.

I think Mark of Zorro is probably being re-promoted to tie-in with Sony's ZORRO sequel with Antonio Banderas on Oct 28th.

This is the 1966 film with the cast from the '60's TV series (Adam West, Burt Ward, etc.), not the Tim Burton directed film with Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, etc. The latter is a Warner Brothers property, the former belongs to Fox and is already available on DVD.
