Peter, or anyone else from Fox who might be monitoring this board right now, I hope you take this into consideration:

The AC-3 THX LD of Alien used the 70mm roadshow mix with stereo surrounds and it's considered the most aggressive and atmospheric mix of this movie.

The previous THX DVD used the 35mm Dolby Stereo masters as the template for the corrected music and sound cues presented on the DVD. However, it had mono surrounds even though it was encoded with DD 5.1.

Now you're going to be releasing a spectacular 5-Star version of Alien with DTS sound. I hope you will take this golden opportunity to go back and fix and physically restore the negatives (then use an additional digital clean up, if necessary, on digital video) and remix the soundtrack once again by blending the surround aggressive 70mm roadshow mix (with stereo surrounds) with the 35mm version's new cue corrections (on the previous DVD). Supervised by Ridley Scott and the Director of Photography, of course.

While you're at it, a full restoration of James Cameron's extended cut of Aliens with a new digitally remixed soundtrack (with stereo surrounds, heck why not DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 with three discrete surround channels??) and DTS sound would be great too for a future 2 or 3 disc 5-Star version of Aliens. I would hope you would consult Cameron and company as well. One of the great sci-fi movies deserves the royal treatment too!

Thank you for your consideration!

I would say Fox are bound to be looking at improvements in visuals and sound for this release. After all, the original Alien disc is a very good SE. I don't know if there has ever been a 5-Star upgrade of such an impressive orignal release, but I'm guessing they must know they can offer enough to be certain of getting a lot of upgrades.
I think you can probably trust Fox beyond all other studios at this point in time.:emoji_thumbsup:
