Obviously I'd still need a sub but I figure I could get that at a later time. What option would you guys on a budget go with?

I've heard the sony's and they're not horrible. That said, you would probably be better served by the SX-HTB from Fluance or perhaps the JBL NSP1 set and N28 or N38 mains if you really feel you need floorstanding mains.

I agree with Khoa. I bought a whole 6.1(floor- AV-5,AV-SC
& AV-BP2) set up from them and could not be happier. I was looking into other speakers but I gave them a try. I would put these against any of them in the 600 to 700 dollar range. I have had them about a month and are not fully broken in. They sound great. They are worth every dime and more. Flaunce has surprised me. My mind was set on the Axiom but I read some great reviews about this company. so I tried them. i save bout 900$ bucks. I have a full 6.1 setup for under 700$ i have them running on my onkyo 601. I say check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Ain't the PRC and Korea's cheap labor and environmental laws great! No wonder U.S. companies are sending all the manufacturing there.

Look up some web searches on Yamaha NS-6490's, they are bookshelf speakers though, but they do have floorstander type push in them.

They also have an ultra bargain NS floor standing line as well.

I like the look of thosde CV's though. I tend to like 8" woofs all the way around though in general though.
