Has anyone checked out this pile of garbage? I've always thought lowly of mags like EGM and Gamepro, but Foul is about 10 notches below even the crappiest of mags.

For those who haven't checked it out, it's basically a very poor attempt at making a "hip" gaming magazine. The humor is so poor and forced that I actually felt compelled to flip through the entire mag while I was at Hastings. They try so hard....yet I can't say I was moderately amused even once.

    Among some of their gems:

Too many grammar/spelling errors to count

A full page article written from the perspective of an action figure ogre complaining about the price of Steel Battalion, which they quoted as $250

Rating "The Thing" 93%, higher than any other game this month

Refusing to review Deathrow because they were disappointed it wasn't a game about prison breakouts

Referring to a game as "Wrestlemania X8: Shut Your Mouth"

Several pages of "centerfolds" featuring a semi-nasty chick in a vampire type outfit

A "How-To" article explaining the aspects of socializing a dork

    And lastly

The cover story is a 3 page long christmas poem bashing the Xbox

Has anyone ever seen this? It's like a modern day Ultra-Gameplayers gone horribly horribly wrong.

No, I haven't seen it. Who is the publisher?

It's amazing how difficult it's been to find a good video game mag since the plug got pulled on NextGen.

Hah, figures that it's self published, who else would fund this stuff? I think last months issue had Ron Jeremy on the cover dressed as Mario.

I don't think Next-Gen is that big of a loss, they really declined in the later years. I still have some of the very first Next-Gen's that had the harder covers, now THOSE are some good mags.

Heh. That magazine has been raked over the coals in a different forum (not the typical fanboy types.) The publisher came on to try to defend himself (I forget the name, but he does indeed live in NY.) He was mocked right off the forum, never to come back again.

This magazine is basically a fan mag that started its distribution on St. Marks Place in NYC. It's meant to be offensive and silly.

If you're not into that, then avoid it. I get it for free here in the city and I like to check it out whenever I see it.

In my opinion, it's much more entertaining than the stupid humor you see in the margins of magazines like GamePro.

BrianB, I'm not arguing with you. I stand by my statement of "not your typical fanboys." See? [IMG]

Oh c'mon yourself, Josh. The Fatbabies forum is a joke.

But it's entertaining, and sometimes some of those guys know what they're saying.

    Sometimes.

You understandably hate Fatbabies, but it's a place where some people who know what they're talking about duke it out. Can be an interesting conversation, especially for someone like me who's on the outside of the industry.
