p.s. If this comes about, I wonder what we'll find to complain about?
Oh, you know there will be some complaining about the packaging (likely to be a cardboard foldout, given New Line's previous multi-disc releases).
I'll be buying (& keeping) the movie-only release in August, and then the SE in November. If they do this for the other two films, I'll have to make a LotR-only shelf!! :D

Why don't we just skip a step and
start the "It won't play on my player list" now?
;)

Im glad I bought my 5-Disc changer! :)
But Im wondering why 4 discs. I expected a 3-disc. 2 for the movie and one for extras. If its 4, this means 2 discs full of extras. Now thats awesome!

Could be that DVD-5's are being used to allow 10 GB to be split up between two DVD's instead of one 9 GB DL disc
Hey...who is to object to New Line upping the quality? :D

Two DVDs to rule them all
One DVD to find them
One DVD to bring them all
And in a cardboard foldout case bind them
:D

I will happily purchase both the movie only (for my 2 month quick fix) and the SE versions of this title. :emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup:

My friend and I were discussing the fact that by the time RotK comes out on DVD, we will definitely be bankrupt and own ~100 versions of the film, hehe.

Yay, this is surely going to be one great disc. But let hope the extra are not a virtual tour of Moria or play with dolls with the Balrog ^^. Just kidding to both Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but still hehe.

We're just so spoiled... soon we're going to complain when movies are released only as 3-disc sets. :)

Will they put the movie on 2 discs? It should be able to fit on one disc. If it will be 1/2 an hour longer, that is less than 3 1/2 hours. Why shouldn't they be able to fit it on one disc? I hope it is on one disc so I don't have to change a disc just to watch the rest of the movie.

It probably can't fit because of commentaries and audio mixes, etc.

I'd rather have the film on 2 DVDs than
have them try to cram it all on one DVD,
along with commentray tracks and various
audio formats.
But, I have a 5 disc DVD player. :)
At some point convience must be sacrificed
to preserve the quality of the presentation,
and keep the DVD glich-free.
(Both Lawrence of Arabia and
The Bridge Over The River Kwai do
lock up on my other player, which is a lesser model,
and I have to wonder if it isn't because both
DVDs push the RSDL to its limits...in fact,
The Bridge Over The River Kwai is
just "DL" and not "RSDL" because they could fit
a bit more data if they didn't "RS" it.)

Well, I bet they'll have both dolby and dts tracks for one thing. On top of that at least one commentary track (Peter Jackson), but probably a second one as well.

I'd also rather them keep it on two discs than to sacrifice video quality in anyway at all to keep it on one.
