Fort Apache, The Bronx - aspect ratio?? (1 Viewer)

I just bought Fort Apache, The Bronx at Best Buy for 6 or 7 dollars. The back of the case says "Aspect Ratio 4:3 letterbox." Does anybody know what the mistake is? Is it actually 4:3, or is it actually letterboxed? Amazon says it's full-screen, but DVD Planet says it's 1.85:1.
I don't want to open the disc, because I plan to return it if it's been modified to fit my old TV.

I have the disc and it's indeed 1.85:1. Not anamorphic though, unfortunately.
