FYI, I posted a similar comment on an "Alias" thread, and it turned out (for me) that I needed to log in to my account first, and then I was able to pre-order the item. You might want to give it a try -- couldn't hurt.

    Good luck,

    - Bob P.

    Thanks Bob.
    That almost worked [IMG]
I logged in, went back to the 2 disc page. Tried to put it in my cart, but the same thing happened.
I tried it with the 4 disc and it DID work, it also worked the full screen 2 disc.
I'm not a HUGE fan of lotr, but I would like the 2 disc.
Maybe wait till it hits the stores :|

    Brian,

You might give it another go. I had so many problems with the Overstock web site today, that even after I submitted my order for the 4-disc set, it still didn't take it.

I tried again at 10::00 PM, and it was smooth sailing.

    Good luck,

    Joseph

Why does Overstock "sell out"? Don't they get more inventory after there initial shipments? I don't get it.

Too bad Overstock doesn't ship to APO addresses.

There are many servicemembers and Department of Defense civilians who whould love to do business with them, but they apparently don't want to do business with us.

I guess I'll have to stick with Amazon (sigh).

It's probably too late now, but how do you get the Overstock coupons to work? I went to the Deals page and looked at the Overstock entries, but there was nothing about The Two Towers coupon there.

This is a fantastic deal on the 4 disc edition!

I just placed my order without a problem. My total, after the $5.00 coupon, was $20.89, which is about 50% off retail price.

By contrast, DeepDiscountDVD (normally the best internet price) has it for $29.47.

I had a copy pre-ordered from Amazon for 25, which wasn't too bad, but 21... that's too good to pass up.

Thing is, I can't decide if I want to use my new customer $5 on TTT or Indiana Jones. Oh, the dreadful decisions we have ot make for our hobby!

And a different credit card may be a good idea. I did, to the same address, and it worked.

    Quick question!

Do you think Overstock.com is reputable enough for me to place an order for the 4-disc set today, get charged on my credit card today, and them still be in business in 3 months to send my order out?

I am not slamming them at all, I have just never ordered from them before. Anyone know how long they have been around?

    Thanks!

    Ronnie

Even though they have a below average rating (www.resellerratings.com) I went ahead and placed the order for the 4 disc set.

Reading the ratings at resellerratings.com, it seems they have good ratings for books. DVD's should be similar, hopefully.
