It's not going to be ten years before you can own all these titles. Rather, it will only be five, assuming you bought the standard editions of JUNGLE BOOK, PETER PAN, 101 DALMATIANS and LITTLE MERMAID. Granted, these aren't special editions, but they'll do until the Platinum editions arrive. I am hoping we will also see special editions of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, SLEEPING BEAUTY, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and THREE CABALLEROS/SALUDOS AMIGOS with materials that were included in the laser box sets. The fact that TRON and POCHAHONTAS seem to be coming in special editions gives me hope.

Well, the question on my mind is: how long would we hav ehad to wait for a Tron SE if Disney weren't trying to market a sequel?

Personally, I think there are enough films coming
out, and anticipation being the sweetest part...
I too cannot wait for The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Disney has several pages with it "coming in 2002"
and some say in March, but I know the sequel is
due on direct-to-video about then too. (Which
I really couldn't care less about.)
Let's hope the do with The Hunchback of Notre Dame what they did with
The Emperor's New Groove:
a basic edition, and a special edition.
I am under the impression Quasi had a decent set of
extras on LD...so it would be a shame to waste those.

Also, I would rather have Disney really make the
Platinum titles really decent, fully restored, then
get more the "whip out" jobs that the first batch
of animated films was.

So, you're saying the Limited Edition releases I bought are going to be re-released as Platinum editions? You're kidding, right?

Nope, no kidding. And no secret, either. Disney announced this shortly after the Limited Editions were released. Unless you bought the "Disney Anthology Box Set" with all of them day-and-date, the information's been available to anyone who checked.
Not that anyone would think to check, of course. I mean, why would you?
But I got the box set anyway. 10 years is a looooong time to wait.
Which is the whole point of this thread.

Tron Special Edition? May be.
Pocahontas Special Edition? Yeah, right. I remember people posting stuff about the mythical Pocahontas SE to be released shortly after the Gold Collection version. We are still waiting on that.
As far as Disney re-releasing these "limited" titles, the only thing I heard is the Platinum list posted by Ron a few months ago.
