Yeah I just saw that. Typical of the studio since they know most people have no interest in getting the lackluster sequels. This is just a marketing strategy to force the die-hard Karate Kid fans to buy the other films in order to get the SE. I have no doubt that they'll eventually release the SE seperately.

No word yet on the specs for the SE?

I love the first film, but the ONLY way I would buy this is if it is OAR&F......

I'd be extremely surprised if KK wasn't anamorphic widescreen. If nothing else, it's the only way they'll sell any of the box sets. And, I'll buy it. I like the first sequel, and the second sequel is bad-but-watchable. The third sequel will never see the inside of my DVD player.

The only way I'd get this, is if all the sequals and original where in widescreen. The only good ones are 1 and 2. 3 and 4 I could gladly do without....

Ok, this is getting REALLY frustrating... The habit of releasing all films together in box sets without the option of seperate purchases... I have no interest in 3 & 4, and only minor interest in number 2...

Group this whole *%&#$!@ thing along with Back to the Future as a favorite I won't be owning because of the packaging scheme...

I'm gonna keep waiting unfortunately...

"I suppose since they are SONY they will all be FULL FRAME."

I believe, Bradley E, that that is your usual mantra. I've asked you before and I'll ask you again - please list all the Columbia features that have been released non-OAR in the last two years. What you will find is that it's a small list - annoying, yes, but small. Most of their transfers have been correct OAR and quite lovely. So, I'm just curious why you keep going off and posting the same thing repeatedly? Why do you not at least acknowledge the large amount of wonderful work they've done? It would be nice to let them know that we appreciate the good work, as well as get annoyed about the occasional mishap.

As to the point of this thread - really, if it was released separately, then someone would find something else to criticize - "the box art is bad" "not enough extras" "where's the trailer" and on and on. It just never seems to end, no matter how fantastic a set may be. My guess is that the price of the set will not be all that much more than what Columbia would charge for a single DVD.

Plus for this set= We're FINALLY getting a special edition (which I pray will be anamorphic widescreen). As long as it is, and is high quality, I'll be a happy camper.

Minus= for those who already own the other sequels, it seems a bit unfair to MAKE them buy them again, to get the first movie.

I will be buying though as long as the 1st is OAR. :emoji_thumbsup: :D

The original is a classic that I've been waiting for in OAR and the features make this even more of a must-buy. The second one is great for the opening (leftover from the original) with Kreese alone but it's also a good movie. Three is pretty lame but Terry Silver is great plus MORE KREESE! "Next"... not likely to be opened unless me and some friends feel like having some beers and watching one of the worst movies ever (featuring a future Oscar winner).

Better be OAR or... you know.

"Defeat does not exist in this dojo, does it!?"
"NO SENSEI!"

"Sweep the leg."

As long as all of the films are OAR, I'll gladly pick them up. I've never seen the first or second "Karate Kid" movies, but I have seen the latter two.........many years ago. I vaguely remember enjoying part III back in 1990 I believe. I'd love to be able to see the first 2 films for the first time.

Yes, but how many Dual Format Flipper discs have they actually removed the Widescreen side from in the last two years? That is a decent sized list.
