I'm not sure what's up with this release since it seems hidden. The only site listing this is Best Buy so either it's a mistake or it's at least a temporary exclusive similar to (and just as well advertised) as those Walmart exclusives. No indication it will be in store, but it does have a 7 digit SKU so it's possible

I will admit to having a very soft places for this title. It's not a great movie by any means, but every time I watch it I feel better in the end. I'm not sure it's a baseball movie any more than Field of Dreams is, but more of a spiritual journey of growing old with baseball at the center.

For Love of the Game (Blu-ray @ BestBuy.com)

For Love of the Game
Based on the novel by Michael Shaara, For Love of the Game brought Kevin Costner back to the world of baseball after his successes with Bull Durham (1988) and Field of Dreams (1989). Billy Chapel (Kevin Costner) is a star pitcher with the Detroit Tigers, standing on the mound at Yankee Stadium and throwing what is shaping up to be a perfect game with the help of his best friend and catcher, Gus Osinski (John C. Reilly). However, Billy is having a hard time keeping his mind on the game; he's come to a crossroads in both his personal and professional lives, and he isn't sure what to do or where to go. He's learned that the Tigers are about to be sold, and the new owners intend to trade him at the end of the season, and that his girlfriend Jane (Kelly Preston) is planning to leave him. For Love of the Game represents a change of pace for director Sam Raimi, best-known for the Evil Dead trilogy and the acclaimed suspense drama A Simple Plan (1998) (although Raimi, a baseball fan born in Michigan, doubtless enjoyed making a film featuring the Detroit Tigers)

Which means they'll eventually come out with other retailers in about six months or so.

I believe that we still have the early '00s DVD edition. Besides the film itself, I remember enjoying the Easter Egg (Does anyone remember these?) that contained an early 1930s Babe Ruth instructional short subject. Assuming the Blu-ray placeholder is for real, I wonder whether it will retain the Babe Ruth short?

It's been so long since I've viewed this title (circa 2003, probably!), I no longer quite recall the ending! I may need to check this one out again soon, although I don't foresee buying any new titles, for the time being. At least I can check to see how well the DVD upscales on our current setup!

CHEERS! :)

They are Best Buy Exclusives and the street date is August 8. My pre-orders of Bowfinger and EdTv are on the way to me for Monday delivery. I think they will be in Best Buy stores in a end cap shipper on Tuesday unless stores put them out on Sunday. Probably will be exclusive for a couple of months based on previous patterns with Universal.

I suspect at some point. Walmart had a 2 month exclusive window for their releases, so for now I'm going on that time frame though who knows how much BBY effort is putting into discs at all.
Yeah, It Came from Outer Space was a BB exclusive when it came out 10-04-16 then Amazon was selling it on 02-14-17.
