What would perform better between the CHT-12 and the PCi 25-31?

I'll tell you that my SVS 20-39pci rocks my frickin house....clean tight bass..I don't think you can beat it for the price....or anything in that area for that matter...PLUS tom/ron have the best person skills I've heard to date with helping, and even fixing things that weren't really their fault...hats off to them...tom

I have had that Velodyne, and have heard a friend's SVS. The SVS wins hands down. It's no contest.

The Velodyne might sound louder (due to distortion and excess 60 Hz extension), but the SVS will definitely go deeper and rattle more furniture.

I would guess the 20-39PC to be equal to two of the cht120s...if it had the original SVS driver. If it had the newer driver(the ISD)...more like 2.5 to 3 of the cht120s.

Haven't heard the Velo but my 25-31cs rattles everything in my house and it's only powered by a little bitty 50w plate amp that I took from my old sub. Anyone think that a 250w plate amp from parts express will make a diff?[IMG] can't wait..

    Tom,
Are you comparing to the Velodyne CT120 (older) or the CHT12(newer)?

To the ct120, from what I've been told the change from *ct* to *cht* didn't include any major component upgrades.

I think the CHT actually has a little higher powered amp, but not significant enough to make a difference. Other than that they are the same.

It's business as usual at Velodyne and the other ostrich subwoofer companies. Still overpriced/underperforming.

Good thing we know about SVS and HSU.

How is the svs or hsu with music? All my speakers are maggies and they seem to be kinda hard to match up with a sub. I was going to get a rel but can bring myself to spend the money right now. I mostly listed to music, I'd say its prob 85% music (jazz) and 15% movies

I like very clean detailed music where the instruments actually sound like real instruments and not speakers.

What do you guys think, would the svs or hsu be good for me???

    Thanks,
    STEPHEN

    Stephen,
I have a VTF-3 running with my Onix Rockets. This is the first sub I have ever liked with music. A friend of mine has the SVS 25 39PCi, and it is very similar. Either I think would be superb, although I've heard the Maggies are hard to match up.
