Ray Conniff died a few days ago. I was on the website stiffs.com to see the latest quips about celebrities who have entered the great beyond, and I saw that Conniff had passed on.

While not familiar with a lot of his work, I think I may have heard a few tunes by him. Since I'm a fan of all music made up to (I'd say) 1994, I would definitely say I would listen to this man's material.

Sadly, he's gone. R.I.P...

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

I enjoy insturmentals of all sorts.

Being of the generation that "discovered" lounge music - ie, when we were kids we were rejecting that music for Beatles, Hendrix, etc., it has been a pleasure to find that I can enjoy that type of music.

While I don't know that Ray Conniff had any great edge over Mancini, Percy Faith, Jackie Gleason or dozens of others, his orchestrations have a place in any decent retro-collection. I would not be surprised to hear that Conniff issued over a 100 LP's in his day.

Now he's off to the Big Gig in the Sky!
