I can get the original redhead combo bass for $450. The combo was discountined in 1996, and was replace with the super redhead. Is this a good deal? The new super redhead retails for $1100.

www.talkbass.com is the place to ask this question. Join and ask int he "Amplifiers" section. It is a really great forum much like this one for bass guitarrists and upright bassists.
From my recolledtion any SWR Redhead is considered a good quality amplifier, but with all things musical it really comes down to the whole question of do you like the way it sounds? I'm a big fan of older gear in HT and in bass stuff. Lots of times you can get older gear at a very high discount because "something better" has come along. Well, the old gear is just as good as it was when it was new!
