Most of the retailers in my area are sold out of boxed units of the Toshiba 57H82. One dealer has offered me a super price on a floor/demo model. Should I be concerned about buying anything other than a brand-new unit? Is there a higher chance that a demo unit would have suffered from burn-in, or a higher-than-needed contrast setting?

Thanks.

Higher chance ... yes.

Depends on how long it has been on the floor and the material played on it. A test disc with an 80% white field should be used to determine burn in.

high Contrast would have shortened the life span somewhat ...

If you still want the unit, get an extend warranty mixed into it.
