Actually, sometimes I get irritated when there's not "first new post" link at other forums for each thread that's active that day. Packy does a great job adding in all these neat hacks into the VBB code to make it easier to surf the HTF!

I actually get irritated that the automotive sites I visit don't have it. Thanks guys. I'm so spoiled!

HAHAHA! I do it too. It's very annoying when it won't work elsewhere.

Another thing I love about this place that I don't see elsewhere is the "Receive updates to this thread" and getting full responses. Elsewhere, even where there's an e-mail option, it only tells you there's been a response, it doesn't send you the actual response. I LOVE THAT about this place because if my net connection is on the blink, I can still save and read threads. The only thing that would make that better is if I were e-mailed my own responses since it is part of the thread too. I have entire threads saved that include everythiing except what I myself wrote in it. Well, and the first posts that appeared before I got involved.

    This is a great place.

Yeah, I do it too. I even get annoyed when I have to actually go to a page to see what's new.

I inadvertently tried locking a thread at another HT-related site once. Instinct, I suppose.

I find myself going to other sites and behaving in a mature and respectful manner completely forgetting that I can rip people a new one with absolutely no repercussions. [IMG]

[IMG] I do exactly the same thing. Really bugs me when there is an ambiguous thread title and I want to look at the first post before deciding whether or not to open it. Hats off to Packy. Just one more thing that makes this my favorite forum. (I even like it more than the one where I'm a moderator - but don't tell anybody. [IMG])
    Regards,
    Joe

I thought this feature came with the software. I was really annoyed that no one else was using it, I had gotten so used to it. [IMG]

    Ah, the memories...

After seeing this thread, I ventured over to digitaltheater.com (which is where I had first seen this great feature), but it appears that forum is now pretty much defunct.
