Has anyone been watching this? I got season 1 on DVD a few months ago and started watching season 2 last week. The first episode was a bit of a disappointment to me, but episode 2 was great, with both really funny songs and a funny plot in general.

Wouldn't miss it. The scene where Mel got her massage was a riot, especially her whispered real feelings. The cherry on top was when the camera cut to her husband on the couch.

Nice article on the show in this week's Time. They talk about how the first season was written around a cache of songs that they had been performing for years, but how for the current season, there was extra pressure coming up with both episodes and songs at the same time. They suggest that the songs get better as the season progresses.

Regards,

I've already felt that it has so far, the songs in episode 1 were pretty lame, but episode 2 was much funnier.

And that makes a lot of sense, its probably very difficult to write what, a cd's worth of brand new songs while at the same time making a show.

I'm really enjoying Season 2.

I loved the songs "Hurt Feelings" and "Sugalumps"
Had to buy them on Itunes.

I loved episode 2 where it dealt with the $2.79 cup that Bret bought.
I also loved the scene with Mel getting her massage.

Flight of the Conchords is going on tour and they will be performing here in Las Vegas at The Hard Rock in May.
I'm getting my ticket Saturday when they go on sale.
The concert will also coincide with the release of their second CD

I think I'm done with this show. I found the first season very funny and witty but S2 seems like an entirely different show.

Murray Takes it to the Next Level

A great episode.

Loved both of the songs, "Dreams" and "Friends"

I love Murray's line to Jermaine about calling Jim a dick.
"Have a taste of your own dick medicine."

I got my ticket, they arrive in the mail today.
$120 for almost up at the front stage.
Very excited for May 23rd.

The dick medicine line definitely was one of the funnier moments, as was "If you kick my dick, I won't break your balls" in the song.

I don't think any of the other episodes this season have been as good as episode 2 of this year though.

Interesting. I'm finding this season possibly even funnier than the first.

I don't know if I'm in the minority on this, but one thing about this show for me - I could take or leave pretty much all of the songs. There were a handful from season one that I enjoyed ('Most Beautiful Girl', 'It's Business Time' & 'Hiphophapotamus' come to mind), but most of the other ones actually bring the show down for me. The dialog of this show is why I watch.

There's been only two songs that I've thought were really hilarious this year and that's "Sugarlumps" and the "Friends" one from Sunday's, I think the first season had much better songs, though as mentioned having the back catalog of the songs already makes that much easier.

From the first season, offhand I remember the 3 you've mentioned above, plus the Bowie one and "If You're Into It" but I'm sure there were a couple other great ones that I can't think of.

I agree that the songs are weaker so far and it's obvious that they had been able to pull from their existing stuff (or build episodes into them).

But the dialogue is has been pretty good. There's been some great stuff in each episode.

Just to clarify, my school of thought isn't that the songs are weaker this season...just that I've always thought the songs were the weakest part of the show (including last season).

I don't know, I'm pretty loyal to shows I like. I don't think that my tastes could've changed that much in a year.

i just got into this show last week and am caught up as of this weekend. pretty freakin' hilarious! i'm definitely going to spread word of mouth.
i think the songs in the second season are nowhere near as funny as the first. however the writing and jokes are probably a little funnier. i thought the second season premier was one on of the best. Murray saying the polish crazy dogs was a cover that happen to come up 13 years earlier had me rolling...

Unnatural Love

Probably my least favorite episode this season and maybe even from both seasons.

"Too many dicks out on the dance floor" was a funny song. But not a favorite of mine.

But I did enjoy Murray and Bret secretly talking to each other in his office with Jermaine right next to them, thinking that he couldn't hear them.
And Murray testing out Jermaine's hearing "Jermaine's a good looking guy isn't he?"

and the biscuits arrived that the guys ordered from episode two of this season. Jermaine not getting any from filling out the form wrong.

wow, i actually thought it was pretty good. conversely, i thought the "friendship" episode the week before was probably the least funny of the series.

New Zealand Town

A better episode.
I liked the whole hair gel storyline, but didn't find the New Zealand Town story too funny. The Fashion song was good though.

And thought it was funny how Mel has a key to their apartment.

And I loved Murray was asking Greg for Anti-glue.

I liked how New Zealand Town was literally not even 100 feet, and was in front of all different ethnic food places or something like that (I watched it almost a week ago so I can't remember exactly).

I read somewhere that the two of them think they probably won't do a third season, and I think that's smart. The songs are as I mentioned a few times just not as good as the first season, and without them it's just another sitcom about two guys in ridiculous situations. It's still funny, I just don't know how long that can last.

Didn't recognize her, but I did notice Mary Lynn Rajskub the following week.
