Does anyone take fish oil supplements for the benefits of Omega-3 ?

Is there any harm or side effects ?

JonZ,

I do eat fish but my tryglcerides are a little high, so I thought getting more Omega-3 would help.

Various members of my family have taken fish oil for the omega-3 fatty acids. Other than the bad taste none of them have reported any side effects.

This website talks about some side effects:

My family members take the oil because of a kidney condition (IgA nephropathy), not necessarily to lower cholesterol, however my mother has noted that her HDL (good cholesterol) levels have dramatically risen. Her LDL levels were always very low so that was never an issue.

I think as long as you stay within recommended guidelines and talk to your doc about taking them, you'll be fine.
